Caller ID with Call W aiting lets you see who’ s calling before y ou answer the phone, even when y ou’ re on another call.

5 About Handset Registration 1 The cordless handsets that came with your system ar e automatically r egister ed as Handset 1,Handset 2, and Handset 3. There is no need to r e-r egister . 2 Y ou ma y register up to a total of six Expansion Handsets to this telephone system(Model 5800 handset sold separate l y).
6 W all Installation 1 Connect the po wer cord and telephone line cord to the underside of the base, as shown (figur e a) . 2P osition the mounting brack et as sho wn (figure b) .
7 Spar e Batter y/P o wer F ailure Backup Y ou can buy a spare handset battery (A T&T Batter y 2401, SKU# 91077, sold separately) and k eep it charged in the base at all times.
8 Belt Clip Y ou ma y choose to use the optional belt clip with your handset. Headset Y ou can use this telephone hands-free when y ou install any industry standard 2.5 mm headset . F or best r esults use an A T&T 2.5 mm headset. Plug the headset into the jack located on the left side of the handset (under the small rubber flap).
9 F eature Setup Menu Press the softk ey under to enter the Featur e Setup menu. Use or to choose f eatur es, then select to sa ve your choice. NO TE: If you wait mor e than 20 seconds without pressing a k ey , the handset returns to the idle screen.
10 Clock Mode Y ou can choose to displa y the time when the phone is idle at the handset, or you can turn this f eature off. The default setting is ON . 1 Press . 2 Press until the screen highlights 3 Press . The screen displa ys 4 Press or . 5 Press to sa ve the displa yed setting.
11 Sound Select This telephone uses the latest acoustic receiv er design, pro viding you with four differ ent sound quality settings. During a call, you can adjust the quality of the sound. Pressing repeatedly will cycle y ou through f our differ ent responses.

19 Ringer V olume 1 Mak e sure the base Speakerphone is off. 2 Press and hold M M , then press V OLUME + + or - - to adjust the ringer v olume .Y ou will hear a sample of the ringer volume setting. NO TE: The low est volume setting is off. 3 Release M M to sav e your setting.
20 Ringer Melody 1 Mak e sure the base Speakerphone is off. 2 Press and hold F F , then press V OLUME + + or - - to change the ringer melody . Y ou will hear a brief sample of the selected melody .
21 Mak e a Cal l At the Handset 1 Press P P , then dial the number — OR — Dial the number , then press P P . 2 To end the call, press O or place the handset in the base. Answ er a Call At the Handset 1 To answer a call, press any k ey except O and softk eys.
3658B 22 M M M V olume Handset Y ou can adjust the volume of what y ou hear through the handset during a conv ersation by pressing V OLUME + + or - - on the right side of the handset. Y ou will hear a special tone when you r each the highest or lowest setting.
Handset Speak erphone When the handset speak erphone is activated, you can use the phone hands-free. Stand the handset on a flat surface (not in the base) and continue y our conv ersation. NO TE: F or best perf ormance , use the handset speak erphone in a quiet location with the handset facing you fr om no more than four f eet awa y .
24 Redial The last ten phone numbers dialed at the handset are stor ed in redial memor y . 1 Press then press or to scroll thr ough the numbers in r edial memor y . 2 Press P P or K K to dial the highlighted n umber . 3 Press O O to end the call. Sa ve a Redial Number 1 Press .
25 Flash/Call W aiting If you subscribe to Call W aiting ser vice with your local telephone ser vice pro vider , you can ans wer a new incoming call without losing your cur rent call. Handset 1 Press P P / F F to connect to the new call when you r eceive a call-waiting signal.
3658B 26 Mute Handset 1 During a telephone conv ersation, mute the handset microphone b y pressing . The other party will be unable to hear anything on y our end. 27 Hold Handset NO TE: When a call is on hold, the screen displa ys CALL ON HOLD . If the clock featur e is on, this message will be displa yed for fiv e seconds, then r eturn to the clock displa y with H on top of the screen. After five min utes, the handset will ring to remind y ou there’ s a call on hold.

45 Audible Indicators This system gives y ou voice pr ompts for feature operations and voice confirmations when y ou press a button or complete an operation. 46 About Mailbo x es This answ ering system has three v oice mailbox es. Callers using a touch tone phone can select the mailbox in which their messages will be r ecorded by pressing 1 1 , 2 2 , or 3 3 . All other messages will be r ecorded in Mailbox 1.

Connect with the Answ ering System Y ou can access many f eatures of this system remotely fr om a touch tone phone. 1 Dial your telephone n umber . 2W hen the system answers, enter your Remote Access Code (preset to 50). The system beeps once and then announces the number of new messages.

In the ev ent of a power failur e , a fully charged batter y in the spare battery compartment will allow you to mak e and receive calls fr om the cordless handset only for up to 2 1 / 2 hours.
