Caller ID with Call W aiting lets you see who’ s calling befor e you answ er the phone, ev en when you’ re on another call.

4 INST ALLA TION INST ALLA TION 3 Install the handset batter y. Use only A T&T Batter y 2401, SKU# 91077 . 4 Charge the handset battery . • Place the handset in the base or remote charger . • Charge the batter y at least 12 hours. After the first charge, the batter y will charge in eight hours.
5 About Handset Registration 1 The cordless handsets that came with y our system are automatically register ed as Handset 1,Handset 2, and Handset 3. There is no need to re-r egister . 2 Y ou ma y register up to a total of six Expansion Handsets to this telephone system(Model 5800 handset sold separately).
6 W all Installation 1 Connect the po wer cor d and telephone line cord to the underside of the base, as sho wn (figure a) . 2 P osition the mounting brack et as sho wn (figure b) .
7 Spar e Batter y/P o wer F ailur e Backup Y ou can buy a spare handset batter y (A T&T Batter y 2401, SKU# 91077, sold separately) and k eep it charged in the base at all times.
8 Belt Clip Y ou may choose to use the optional belt clip with y our handset. Headset Y ou can use this telephone hands-free when y ou install any industry standard 2.5 mm headset . For best results use an A T&T 2.5 mm headset. Plug the headset into the jack located on the left side of the handset (under the small rubber flap).
9 F eatur e Setup Menu Press the softk ey under to enter the Featur e Setup menu. Use or to choose featur es, then select to sav e your choice. ¥ ¥ NO TE: If you wait mor e than 20 seconds without pressing a k ey , the handset returns to the idle scr een.
10 Clock Mode Y ou can choose to display the time when the phone is idle at the handset, or you can turn this featur e off. The default setting is ON . 1 Press . 2 Press until the screen highlights 3 Press . The screen displa ys 4 Press or . 5 Press to sa ve the displa yed setting.
11 Sound Select This telephone uses the latest acoustic receiv er design, pro viding you with four diff erent sound quality settings. During a call, you can adjust the quality of the sound. Pressing repeatedly will cycle y ou through four differ ent responses.

19 Ringer V olume 1 Mak e sure the base Speak erphone is off. 2 Press and hold M M , then press V OLUME + + or - - to adjust the ringer volume.Y ou will hear a sample of the ringer volume setting. ¥ ¥ NO TE: The lowest v olume setting is off. 3 Release M M to sav e your setting.
20 Ringer Melody 1 Mak e sure the base Speak erphone is off. 2 Press and hold F F , then press V OLUME + + or - - to change the ringer melody .Y ou will hear a brief sample of the selected melody .

3358 22 i i i V olume Handset Y ou can adjust the volume of what you hear thr ough the handset during a conv ersation by pressing VOLUME + + or - - on the right side of the handset. Y ou will hear a special tone when you r each the highest or low est setting.
Handset Speak erphone When the handset speak erphone is activated, you can use the phone hands-free. Stand the handset on a flat surface (not in the base) and continue y our conv ersation. ¥ ¥ NO TE: For best performance, use the handset speak erphone in a quiet location with the handset facing you fr om no more than f our feet a wa y .
24 Redial The last ten phone numbers dialed at the handset are stor ed in redial memory . 1 Press then press or to scroll thr ough the numbers in redial memory . 2 Press P P or K K to dial the highlighted number . 3 Press O O to end the call. Sa ve a Redial Number 1 Press .
25 Flash/Call W aiting If you subscribe to Call W aiting service with your local telephone ser vice pr ovider , you can answ er a new incoming call without losing your cur rent call. Handset 1 Press P P / F F to connect to the new call when you r eceive a call-waiting signal.
3358 26 Mute Handset 1 During a telephone conv ersation, mute the handset micr ophone by pressing . The other party will be unable to hear anything on your end. The scr een displa ys 2 T o return to tw o-wa y conv ersation, pr ess again. Base Press M M on the base to pre vent the other party from hearing you.
27 Hold Handset ¥ ¥ NO TE: When a call is on hold, the screen displa ys CALL ON HOLD . If the clock featur e is on, this message will be displa yed f or five seconds, then return to the clock displa y with H on top of the screen. After five min utes, the handset will ring to remind y ou there’ s a call on hold.

On steadily with one or mor e numbers next to it, indicating which extensions are using the line. For example , 1 1 2 2 indicates that Handset 1 and Handset 2 are on an outside call.

41 C ALLER ID OPERA TION C ALLER ID OPERA TION If you subscribe to Caller ID service with your local phone service provider , this phone stores all incoming calls (up to 50 at the handset ) with valid Caller ID information in the calls log. Name, number , time and date information can all be stor ed, if they are sent with the call.

45 Audible Indicators This system gives y ou voice pr ompts for featur e operations and voice confirmations when y ou press a button or complete an operation. T urn Answering System On/Off Press O O to turn the system on or off. When the system is turned on, you will hear “Machine on” and the O O light will be lit.
46 About Mailbo x es This answ ering system has three v oice mailbox es. Callers using a touch tone phone can select the mailbox in which their messages will be r ecorded by pressing 1 1 , 2 2 , or 3 3 . All other messages will be r ecorded in Mailbox 1.

Connect with the Answering System Y ou can access many featur es of this system remotely fr om a touch tone phone. 1 Dial your telephone n umber . 2 When the system answ ers, enter your Remote Access Code (preset to 50). The system beeps once and then announces the number of new messages.

In the ev ent of a power failur e, a fully charged battery in the spare battery compartment will allow you to mak e and receiv e calls from the cor dless handset only for up to 2 1 / 2 hours.
