12 Caution Using the A C Adapter (optional) If you intend to use the LCD monitor f or a long time or connect the camera to a PC , use of the AC adapter D-A C5 (optional) is recommended. z Make sure that the camera is turned off and opening the terminal cover .
Caution Captured images are recorded on the CompactFlash (CF) card. Make sure that the camera is turned off bef ore inser ting or removing the CF card (optional). Installing the Card z Slide the CF card co ver in the direction indicated by arro w and lift it up.
Appro ximate Number of Recordable Images and Recorded pixels/Quality le vels • The abov e table indicates is the number of images when using a 16MB CF card. • The abov e table is based on standard shooting conditions specified by PENT AX and may vary depending on the subject, shooting conditions, capture mode, CF card, etc.
Use the power s witch to tur n the camera on and off. z Press the power switc h. The camera will turn on. When the camera is turned on the lens cover opens and the lens extends . Press the power s witch again to tur n the camera off. Playbac k Only Mode T urning on the camera while pressing Playback/OK b utton will activate Pla yback only mode.
16 Getting Star ted If the initial settings screen appears when you turn the camera on, follo w the procedure below to set the display language, Home T own, DST , video output f or mat and current date and time.
17 Getting Star ted Setting the Home T own Y ou can choose the city (Home T own) in which you will use the camera. z Press the four -way contr oller ( ) to select the desired city (Home T own). x Press the four -way contr oller ( ). The screen for setting the ne xt item will be displayed.
18 Getting Star ted Setting the Video Output Format Y ou can choose the output f ormat (NTSC or P AL) for taking or playing bac k pictures using a TV monitor . z Use the four -way contr oller ( ) to select the video output format. The default setting is NTSC .

T aking Still Pictures 20 Quick Start Quick Start For the simplest procedure to tak e still pictures: The flash fires automatically depending on the light conditions. z Press the power switc h. The camera will turn on. x Set the mode dial to . c Confirm the subject and shooting information on the LCD monitor .
v Press the shutter release button. The image will be display ed on the LCD monitor for 0.5 seconds (Instant Revie w) and recorded on the CF card. (The green and red lamps on the right of the viewfinder blink alternately while the image is being recorded on the CF card.
22 Quick Start Playing Bac k Still Pictures Quick Start Playing Bac k Images Y ou can displa y the still picture. z Press the Playbac k/OK button after taking a picture. The image taken will be dis- play ed on the LCD monitor. During this time you can erase the image by pressing the button (The Delete screen will be display ed.

24 Quick Start Quick Start How to Vie w the Recorded Images Images taken with the Optio 330GS camera are recorded on the CF card. Y ou can vie w the images recorded on the card on the camera itself , transf er them to your PC and print them out.
25 Quick Start Viewing images on a PC Y ou only need to install the USB driver the first time . After that, you can vie w recorded images and edit them on the PC just by connecting the camera to the PC with the USB cab le and downloading the images.

28 T aking Pictures T aking Pictures Setting the Shooting Functions Changing the Mode Capture mode is for taking pictures and Pla yback mode is for playing bac k or erasing images. Press the Playbac k/OK button to change the mode between Capture mode and Pla yback mode.
29 T aking Pictures Selecting the Focus Mode Focus Mode z Press the or button in Capture mode. The focus mode changes each time the b utton is pressed and the setting is display ed on the LCD monitor. The camera is ready to take the picture in the set f ocus mode.
30 T aking Pictures Caution If you tak e a picture while looking through the viewfinder when the focus mode is set on Macro , the range of the resulting picture will differ from what w as seen in the viewfinder . Be sure to check the image on the LCD monitor .

54 T aking Pictures Caution Keeping the shutter release b utton pressed If you k eep the shutter release button pressed f or more than one second, pictures will be taken f or as long as you keep the button pressed. Shooting stops when the button is released.
55 T aking Pictures T aking Stereo Pictures (3D Image Mode) Y ou can take 3D pictures using the LCD monitor and vie w them by the parallel method or cross method (p .58). If you print out the 3D pictures and look at them through the 3D image viewer provided, the image will appear in three dimensions.

On the right side of the screen, the first image will appear in a semi-transparent state on top of the second image. 75 Playbac k/Erasing Caution Erasing All Images Y ou can erase all the images at once . • Once erased, images cannot be restored. • Protected images cannot be erased. z Enter the Playbac k mode and press the button twice. The Delete (All) screen will be dis- play ed.
76 Playbac k/Erasing Protecting Ima ges from Deletion (Protect) Y ou can protect images from being accidentally erased. z Enter the Playbac k mode and choose the image you want to protect with the f our-wa y controller ( ). x Press the button.
77 Playbac k/Erasing Viewing Ima ges on a TV By using the video cable , you can capture and pla y back images on a TV or other equipment with a video IN jack. Make sure that both the TV and the camera are tur ned off before connecting the cable . z Open the terminal cover and connect the video cable.
78 Playbac k/Erasing Y ou can print the images on the CF card using a DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) compatible printer or at a printing ser vice. Setting the Printing Service Printing Single Image Set the follo wing items for each image. Copies Set the number of prints up to a maximum of 99.

85 Playbac k/Erasing Installing the A CDSee™ When installing the ACDSee ™ , recorded images can be viewed on your PC . z T urn on y our computer . x Insert the CD-ROM (S-SW6) into your CD-R OM drive. The title screen will appear on your desktop . If it will not automatically begin the software installation when you first insert the CD-ROM.
c T urn y our camera on. v Double clic k the [My Computer]. Y our camera can then be found in the [ My Computer] window as [Remov able Disk]. • Although images can be viewed and printed, image data is on the CF card in the camera.
87 Playbac k/Erasing Viewing images on y our PC z Double clic k the [ACDSee ™ ] icon on the desktop. x Select an image you wish to vie w . Camera images can be f ound in [My Computer]. [Remov able Disk (or the name on the v olume label on the CF card, if there is one)].

Many current and recent Macintosh computers will automatically recognize the camera and load their o wn USB mass storage drivers.

Caution How to recall [Set-up] menu 94 Settings Camera Settings Settings Formatting a CF Card Formatting will delete all the data on the CF card. • Do not open the CF card cov er while the card is being formatted. The card may be damaged and become unusable .
Setting the Date Style Y ou can set the style in which the date is displa yed on the camera. Choose [mm/dd/yy], [dd/mm/yy] or [yy/mm/dd]. z Select [Date Style] on the [Set-up] menu. x Use the four -way contr oller ( ) to change the date style.
Changing the Date/Time Y ou can change the initial date and time settings. z Select [Date Adjust] on the [Set-up] menu. x Press the four -way contr oller ( ). The date screen will be display ed. See “Setting the Date and Time” (p.18) f or the setting procedure.
Changing the Video Output Format Y ou can select the output f ormat (NTSC or P AL) for taking or playing bac k images on a TV monitor . z Select [Video Out] on the [Set-up] menu. x Use the four -way contr oller ( ) to change the video output format.
98 Settings Setting the W orld Time The city and time selected in “Initial Settings” (p .16) ser ve as the Home Time setting. Y ou can displa y the time in a city other than the Home Time city (World Time) when shooting or playing bac k. z Select [W orld Time] on the [Set-up] menu.
99 Settings n Select [DST] On ( ) or Off ( ) with the four-way controller ( ) and press the four -way controller ( ). on the LCD monitor will mov e to [ ] (home time city). Use the four-w ay controller ( ) to change the Home Time city and DST setting.
LCD P ower Saving (Sleep Timeout) Y ou can set the LCD monitor to turn off automatically when no operation is perf ormed for a fixed time . z Select [Sleep Timeout] on the [Set-up] menu. x Use the four -way contr oller ( ) to select [30s], [1m], [2m] or [OFF].
