Using the Flash This chapter provides details on the built-in flash and describes how to take pictures with an external fla sh. Using the Built-in Fla sh .................. .................... ..236 Using an External Flash ( Optional) ..... .......
Using the Flash 9 Using the Built-in Flash Any desired shutter spee d of 1 /180 sec. or slower can be set. The shutter speed auto matically cha nges over a range from 1/180 s e c . to a slow shutter speed that reduc e s cam era shake (th e slowest shu tter speed depends on the focal length of the len s in use).
Using the Flas h 9 1 Set the mode dial to e , K or c . 2 Press the E button. The built-in flash pops up. 3 Set the flash mode to G or H . The shutter speed is set slower to give a proper exposure for t he background. 4 Take a picture. 1 Set the mode dial to b , L or a .
Using the Flash 9 Relationships among the guid e num ber, aperture an d distance mus t be considered when shooting with the flash to obtain a correct exp osure. Calculate the shooting distance or aperture value in the follow ing way, and adjust the shooting conditions if the flash output is not suffi cient.
Using the Flas h 9 Using an External Flash (Optional) Using an optional external flash AF540FGZ, AF360FGZ, AF200FG or AF160FC enables a variety of fla sh modes such as P-TTL auto fla sh mode. z : Available #: Some functions are restricted. ×: Functions are unavailable.
Using the Flash 9 You can use the P-TTL auto flash with an A F540 FGZ, AF360FGZ, AF200FG or AF160FC flash un it. 1 Remove the cover of the hot shoe, and attach the external flash. 2 Turn on the camera and the external flash. 3 Set the external flash mode to [P-TTL].
Using the Flas h 9 With an AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ flash unit, you can discharge a fl ash to take a pictu re at a s hutter sp eed faster than 1 /180 second. 1 Remove the cover of the hot shoe, and attach the external flash. 2 Set the mode dial to b or a .
Using the Flash 9 By using two external fla shes (AF 540FGZ or AF360FGZ ) or using t he built-in flash with one or more exter nal flashes, you can shoot in P-TTL flash mode without connecting th e flash units with a cord. First, set the cha nnel for the external flash unit.
Using the Flas h 9 Set the camera to wireless flash mode when using a n external fl ash in combination with the built- in flash. 1 Remove the external flash unit after the channel is set on the camera, and place it at the desired location. 2 Set the camera’s flash mode to r .
Using the Flash 9 1 Set the wireless mode of the external flash directly connected to the camera to [MASTER] or [CONTROL]. 2 On the wireless remote flash unit, set the wireless flash mode to [SLAVE] and set the channel to the same channel as the flash directly connected to the camera.
Using the Flas h 9 When combining with the built-in flash You can combine two or more external flashes (AF540FGZ, AF360FG Z or AF200FG). For co nnecting the AF540FGZ flas h unit, you can use the exte nsi on cord connection terminal on the flash .
Using the Flash 9 Combining two or more external flashes (AF540FGZ, AF360FGZ or AF200FG) or using an external fla sh in combinatio n with t he bui lt-in flash allows multiple flash photogr aphy (contrast control sync flash photography). This is b ased on t he differe nce betw een the am oun ts of light discharged from multiple units.
