1. Setting Up 1. Push the 415 Rewind pow er s witch OFF . 2. Place the re wind on a le vel surf ace. Be sur e it is at least ten inches a wa y from the supply e xit of the printer (Figure 1). 3. Squarely align the rewind’ s hub flange with the edge of the supply .

2. Con necting Suppli es Rewinding on the Hub 1. Slide the supply guide a wa y from the hub flange and pull it aw ay from the hub. 2. Print or f eed enough supplies from the pr inter to wrap around the hub one and one half times. 3. Hold the hub flange and twist the hub cl o ck wi se until it stops.
6. T ur n the hub and hub flange at leas t one full turn counterc lockwise to tighten the supply strip . 7. Push the supply guide against the hub then slide it against the supply . NOTE: Units with 3" hubs ha ve a flanged disk instead of a supply guide .
Rewinding on a P aper Core 1. Slide the supply guide a wa y from the hub flange and pull it aw ay from the hub. 2. Push the paper core on t he hub until it is against the hub flange. 3. Hold the hub flange and twist the hub cl o ck wi se until the paper core is tight.
5. T ur n the hub and hub flange at leas t one full turn counterc lockwise to tighten the supply strip . 6. Push the supply guide against the hub then slide it against the supply .
3. Operating the Rewind Starting 1. T ur n the speed control knob ( Figure 6) to SLO W . 2. Push the rewind pow er s witch (Figure 7) ON . NOTE: The rewind will star t to tur n. When the dancer roller is almost horizontal, the rewind will stop. 3. Star t t he printer .
Stopping 1. Stop the pr inter . 2. Push the rewind pow er s witch OFF . 3. Pull the supply guide a wa y from the hub . 4. Cut the supply at the s upply e xit of the pr inter (Figure 8). 5. T ape the end of the supply to the r oll on the rewind. 6. Pull the supply guide a wa y from hub .
4. Ch anging Hubs If y ou change to a diff er ent supply , you may need to use a diff er ent hub . One, three , and f our inch diam eter hubs (shor t and long) are a vailab le from Monarch. T o change hubs 1. Pull the supply guide a wa y from the hub (Figure 9) .
3. Remov e the hub sections and replace them with the new ones (Figure 11). a. Slide the new hub spindle on t he shaft. Be sure the notch fits over t he raised portion of the hub flange. b. Slide the hub sections on t o the shaft with t he open ends facing out.
5. Burster Option Setup and Operation Proper positioning of t he printer , burster , and supplies is critical. 1. Place the Rewind/Burster assemb ly in the proper position in front of the pr inter . A dra wing showing the correct position f or all suppor ted pr inters and optional location guides f or alignment is inside the bac k co ver .
4. Figure 13 shows the b urster with the supplies installed. Place the separator bars in their approxim ate working positions (i.e. in line with t he perf orations). When only one bar is needed (f or two par t supply), slide un used bar to the outboard side.
8. Slide the first core onto the 415 hub until it is against the hub flange. 9. Hold the hub flange and twist the hub clockwise until the paper core is tight. 10. P osition the slot in the hub t o the top . 11. Align the leading edge of the first label on t he inside str ip with the slot in the hub and tape t he supply to the core (Figure 14).
12. Slide the separator disk and t he ne xt core ont o the hub (Figure 15). 13. Hold the core against the separator disk, inser t t he core lock (met al strip) into the slot, and slide it into the c or e . 14. Align the leading edge of the first label on t he middle s t rip with the slot in the hub and tape t he supply to the core.
15. Hold the second separator disk with the inside not ch up (in line with the core loc k) and slide it onto the hub (Figure 16). 16. Place the third core over the core lock and slide it onto the hub . Second Separator Disk Third Core Core Loc k Notc h in Disk Figur e 16 5.
17. Slide the third core against the second separ ator disk (Figure 17). 18. Align the leading edge of the first label on t he outside s t rip with the slot in the hub and tape t he supply to the core.
19. Hold the flanged collar assemb ly wit h the opening in the collar up . Then install it on the hub as shown in Figure 18. Opening in Collar Figur e 18 5.
20. Rechec k the print er to re wind alignment and fine adjust as necessary . 21. V erify that the separator bars are loc at ed between th e strip as shown in Figure 19.
Supply Remo va l 1. Remov e the core lock (metal str ip). 2. Remov e the flanged collar assembly . 3. Remov e the outside core and r oll of labels. 4. Remov e the second separator disk. 5. Remov e the middle core and r o ll of labels . 6. Remov e the inside separator disk.

7. Troubl eshooti ng Problem Corrective Action Power switch light does not light. Connect the power cord. Call Monarch Service. Dancer arm does not activate the rewind.
