29 Closed Captions This unit has a b uilt in decoder that pro vides a visual depiction of the audio por tion of a television pr ogram in the form of written w ords acr oss the screen (white or colored letter s on a black backgr ound). It allows the viewer to read the dialogue of a tele vision program or other inf ormation.

Lock Feature In the United States, the V -CHIP consists of tw o rating systems, whic h are MP AA (MO TION PICTURE) and TV P ARENT AL GUIDELINES. Its function is to bloc k pr ograms by the rating data in the XDS data packets sent from broadcasting stations.
