H/W SETUP If the system has both legacy and PNP ISA cards installed, IRQs are assigned to PNP cards from those not used by legacy cards. The PCI and PNP con- figuration of the BIOS setup utility can be used to indicate which IRQs are being used by legacy cards.

The four corners of the connectors are labeled on the motherboard. Pin 1 is the side closest to the power connector on hard drives and floppy drives.

Read and write activity by devices connected to the Primary or Secondary IDE con- nectors will cause the LED to light up.

Chassis/CPU/Power Supply Fan Connectors (3-pin CHA_,CPU_,PWR_F AN) These connectors support cooling fans of 500mA (6W) or less. Orientate the fans so that the heat sink fins allow airflow to go across the onboard heat sink(s) instead of the expansion slots.

BIOS SETUP Chip Configuration SDRAM Configuration [By SPD] This sets the optimal timings for items 2 – 5, depending on the memory mod- ules that you are using. Default setting is [By SPD], which configures items 2 – 5 by reading the contents in the SPD (Serial Presence Detect) device.

If this menu item is set to [Disabled], power management features will not function regardless of other field settings on this menu.

BIOS SETUP Power Up Control AC PWR Loss Restart [Disabled] This allows you to set whether you want your system to reboot after the power has been interrupted. [Disabled] leaves your system of f and [En- abled] reboots your system if it was active before power loss.

BIOS SETUP Boot Menu Boot Sequence The Boot menu allows you to select among the four possible types of boot devices listed using the up and down arrow keys. By using the <+> or <Space> key , you can promote devices and by using the <-> key , you can demote devices.
ASUS P3V4X User ’ s Manual 73 4. BIOS SETUP 4. BIOS SETUP Boot Menu Plug & Play O/S [No] This field allows you to use a Plug-and-Play (PnP) operating system to con- figure the PCI bus slots instead of using the BIOS. When [Y es] is selected, interrupts may be reassigned by the OS.

BIOS SETUP Exit Menu Exit Saving Changes Once you are finished making your selections, choose this option from the Exit menu to ensure the values you selected are saved to the CMOS RAM. The CMOS RAM is sustained by an onboard backup battery and stays on even when the PC is turned off.
