If you have ot her OPPO products placed close to the BDP-103, th ey may inadvertently respond to the BDP-103 remote control. To prevent this, you can s elect a different remote code.

Currently, it supp orts both N e tflix and VUDU, as well as in-home network media sharing via My Network which is capable of connectin g with DLNA and S MB/CIFS clients .

BASIC OPERATIONS 27 On-Scr een Display 1. During the pla yback of a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, press the INFO button on the re mote control to show its status information.
BASIC OPER ATIONS 28 Mute MUTE 1. Press the MUTE button on the remote control du ring content playback to turn off audio output. The TV screen displays a mute icon. The fr ont panel MUTE indicator will also light up. 2. Press the MUTE button again to resume audio output.
BASIC OPERATIONS 29 Subtitle Select ion SUBTITLE 1. When playing a DVD, Blu-ray Disc or other video programs recorded with subtitles, press the SUBTITLE button on the remote control to select the desired subtitle. 2. Repeatedly press the SUBTITLE button or use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to choose from all available subtitles.
BASIC OPER ATIONS 30 BD-Liv e Some Blu-ray Disc titles ar e released with the BD-Live feature. BD-Live offers extra downloadable content and additional online intera ctive programs. BD-Live content varies by disc and studio, and may include additi onal subtitles, commentaries, preview trailers, games, and online chat.
1 3 AD V ANCED OPERA TIONS Outpu t R esolutio n RESOLUTION The BDP-103 supports m ultiple output resolutions. Fo r a detailed discussion on how to choose the best output res olution, please refer to the Select the Best Output Resolut ion section on page 22 of this manual.

ADVANCED OPERATIONS 36 Playbac k fr om a Specific Loca tion DVD and Blu-ray Discs During the pla yback of a DVD or Blu-ray Disc, you may specify a location to start playback by ente ring the title, chapter or time directly. Press the GOTO button to bring up the on-screen display.
ADVANCED OPERATIONS 37 NOTE x Some discs may prohibit the search operation. Yo u will not be able to select a search locati on, or you may get an “invalid operation” icon after specifying a s ear ch location. x Some Blu-ray Discs feature their ow n search f unction.

0 4 MEDIA FILE PLA YB A CK In addition to playing standard disc-based formats suc h as Blu-ray, DVD, CD and SACD, the BDP-103 can play media files. You can enjoy digital music, movies and p hotos stored on a data disc (record able CD, DVD or Blu-ray) or an external USB drive.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 41 Playback from HDMI / MHL INPUT The BDP-103 is equipped with two HDMI INPUT ports: one on th e front panel and the other on the back. You can use the included HDMI cable to connect a source device such as a tuner, set top box, mobile phone or digital camcorder to the HDMI INPUT port( s).
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 42 (Network Attached Storage) and install and con figure software which is functionally equivalent to DLNA or SMB/CIFS (a network file sha ring protocol) client.
MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 43 x Music , Movie and Photo allow you to access corr esponding type of media files from a connected USB drive a nd inserted data disc. x Netw ork enables the player to stream audio, video and photos from media servers on the home network.

MEDIA FILE PLAYBACK 47 Adding Backgr ound Music You can also add bac kground music to the photo slidesho w. To do so, you w ill need to prepare digital music files. The music files can be stored on the same disk as the phot os, or on a different USB drive.
8 4 SETUP MENU OPTIONS The Setup Menu of the BPD-103 presents many setup an d configuration options. For most users, the default configuration will be sufficient and you wil l not require any changes to the settings.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 49 NOTE It is possible that some setup items may be grayed-out and inaccessible. This can be caused by a disc being played b ack or having changed a prerequisite setup item . Please stop playback or eject the disc before trying t o change these setup items.
SETUP MEN U OPTIONS 50 4. To select a value from the list of available settings, press the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons and then press the ENTER button to confirm. For example, to select Off for Auto Play Mode , use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to highlight the Off selection and press the ENTER button.

SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 53 V ideo Setup The Video Setup section of the Setup Menu allows you to configure video out put options. 1. Picture Adju stment : Adjusts picture co ntrol settings. The BDP-103 provides a wide array of picture controls. Please refer to the Picture Adjustm ent section on page 56 for details about each control.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 54 4. 3D Setting : Adjusts the pla yback settings for better 3D visu al quality. x 2D->3D Depth – Adjusts the 3D depth perception when performing 2D-to-3D conversion (also called “simulated 3D”). The default value is 8. x 3D TV Size – Allo ws you to enter the diagonal screen size of the 3D HDTV.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 55 properly supports 1080p 24Hz, smooth er motion can be ac hieved by enabling 1080p24 Output for these discs. x Auto (default) – Video encoded at a 24H z frame rate will be output as 1080p 24Hz if the TV informs the player th at it can support the 1080p24 signal.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 56 x Angle Mark (On/Off) – Turns on/off the display of the angle ico n when a DVD or Blu-ray Disc with multiple angles is played. Keeping the angle mark off avoids distraction from normal movie watching. x Screen Saver – Allows you to turn o n/off the screen saver function.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 57 Picture Adjustment Menu for HDMI 2 To change a picture adjus tment parameter, use the UP/DOWN ARROW buttons to highlight the parameter, and use the LEFT/RIGHT ARROW buttons to change its value.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 58 Essentials HD Basics as aids for adjusting. First adjust the television’s picture controls for the best possible pictu re. Once that is done, try changin g the player’s settings to further refine the picture to the optimal re sult.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 59 Remember that excessive noise reduction may cause a loss of details . We recommend using the noise reduction function only when you en counter poorly encod ed or compressed video that has apparent noise artifa cts. For HDMI 2 , the noise reduction level can be set between 0 an d +3.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 60 x 30 Bits (Dithered) – Uses the 30-bit per pixel Deep Colo r mode w ith dithering technique. x 30 Bits – Uses the 30-bit per pixel Deep Color mode. x Off (Dithered) – Does not use Deep Color, b ut applies the dithering technique.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 61 Audio F or ma t S etup The Audio Format Setup section o f the Setup Men u allows you to configure preferences for audi o output formats. 1. Secondary Audio: Allows you to set the Secondary Audi o Program mixing option. Some Blu-ray Discs contain a secondary audio and video program, such as a director’s commentary.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 62 48kHz). If you play high resolu tion audio co ntent at the 480p/576p resolution, you may get reduced audio resolution, incomplete audio channels, or even no audio/video output at all. Choosing a higher output resolution such as 72 0p or above allows enough bandw idth for all high sample rate audio c hannels.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 63 NOTE If your receiver is capable of HDCD deco ding, it is recommended that you set the HDCD Deco ding setting to Off on the BDP-103 in order to avoid decoding HDCD tw ice. This will prevent the occasional po p or crackle sounds that occur when HDCD is decoded twice.
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 64 Audio Signal Reference Chart Blu-ray Discs may cont ain many types of audio signal form ats , some of which are high resol ution types such as Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio. Blu-ray Discs also have many optional audio components su ch as the Secondary Audio Program and menu clicking sound.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 65 Recommended Audio Format Options Depending on your specific audio/video connectio n method, the audio format options of the BDP-103 may need to be adjusted to match your co nfiguration. Refer to the video and audio connection methods describ ed previously in this guide and the following audio setup guidelines.

SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 67 Audio Processing Setup The Audio Processing section of the Setup Menu allows you to configu re how the player will process audi o signals before sendi ng them to the output. In this section, all of th e settings only affect the anal og audio output s, except for Dynamic Range Control (DRC), which also affects HDMI audio .
SETUP MENU OPT IONS 68 Down Mix Mode Downmixing is the process o f converting multi-channel audio to a lesser number of channels. For example, converting a 5.1ch source to stereo or converting a 7.1ch source to 5.1ch. Downmixing allows the audio output fr om the player to match the exact nu mber of speakers available in your home theater .
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 69 Speaker Settings You can set the size, distance and trim le vel for eac h speaker by using the LEFT/RIGHT A RROW buttons to move the cursor to highlight the speaker and then press the ENTER button. The Speaker Settings menu on the righ t side of the screen will be activated.

SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 73 x Code 1 – OPPO disc player r emote code is set to 1. This is the defau lt remote code. x Code 2 – OPPO disc player remote code is set to 2. Use this code if you have other OPPO products placed close to the BDP-103EU. x Code 3 – OPPO disc player remote code is set to 3.

Front Panel Brightness : Allows you to control the displa y intensity of the front panel Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) informatio n window and the OPEN/CLOSE tray button backlight. If you feel that the disp lay becomes a distraction to yo ur enjoyment of the video, this option allows you to dim it or turn it off.

This operation also set BD-Liv e Network Access to be Off (details on page 76) and performs Erase Persiste nt Storage (details on page 74). SETUP MENU OPT IONS 78 Manual – Allows you to manually ente r the infor mation for a w ireless network. You need to use the r emote control to input the SSID, se lect the Security Mode and input the Security Key. The play er will then test the connection and display the results.
SETUP ME NU OPTIONS 79 x Subnet Mask: Each IP address has an associated sub net mask. It is used by the player to decide whether to route network traffic th rough the router or dire ctly to another device on the same network. When IP Setting is set to Auto (DHCP) , the value displayed here is obtained using DHCP and cannot b e changed.
