En-12 Connections Connecting the AV Receiver Speaker Configuration The following table indicates the channels you should use depending on the number of speakers that you have. No matter how many speakers you use, a powered subwoofer is recommended for a really p owerful and solid bass.
Connections En-13 Attaching the Speake r Cable Label s The speaker terminal s are color-coded for identification purpose. The supplied speaker cable labe ls are also color-coded and you should attach them to th e positive (+) side of each speaker cable in accordance with the table above.

Besides, if you activate Zone 2/3 while Pure Audio i s selected, the listening mode will automatically switch to Direct. *2 Based on the audio channel signal contained in the source, the correspond ing speakers will output the sound.
Turning On & Basic Operations En-45 The Home menu provides quick access to frequently used menus. ■ Network Service ` With this selection, you ca n use various Internet radio services or play the contents stored in media connected to your home network (DLNA) ( ➔ pages 27 to 29 ) .
Turning On & Basic Operations En-46 With the sleep timer, you can set the AV receiver to turn off automatically aft er a specified period. You can adjust the brightness of the AV receiver’s display, and switch the MASTER VOLUME indicator off and on in conjunction.

Note • This setting is not available in either of the following cases: –T h e “ Speakers Type(Front) ” setting is set to “ Bi-Amp ”. –T h e “ Powered Zone 2/3 ” setting is set to “ Yes ” and Zone 2/3 is turned on.
En-48 Advanced Operations On-screen Setup With the AV receiver connected to a TV, there are two ways of changing the settings on-screen: using the Quick Setup or the Setup menu ( HOME ). ■ Quick Setup The Quick Setup provides quick access to frequently used settings.

Advanced Operations En-52 By way of optimized circuitry, this fu nction reduces power consumption when the AV rece iver is in standby mode. The HYBRID STANDBY indicator will li ght in either of the following conditions: –“ HDMI Th rough ” is enabled (the HDMI indicator is off).

Advanced Operations En-55 Main Menu Speaker Setup Here you can check the setti ngs made by Audyssey 2EQ Room Correction and Speaker Se tup function, or set them manually, which is useful if you change one of the connected speakers after using Audyssey 2EQ Room Correction and Spea ker Setup function.
Advanced Operations En-56 *6 When the “ Powered Zone 3 ” setting is set to “ Yes ”, this setting cannot be selected. ■ Surround Back Ch ` 1ch : Select if only one surround back speaker L is connected. ` 2ch : Select if two (left and right) surro und back speakers are connected.

Advanced Operations En-58 The HDMI connection in your sy stem is used to deliver uncompressed digital audio and video information from one device to the next. There is also additional information about this digital content th at can be d elivered. Such additional information is re ferred to as “metadata ”.
Advanced Operations En-59 Center Width ` 0 to 3 to 7 With this setting, you can ad just the width of the so und from the center speaker when using the Dolby Pro Logic IIx Music listening mode. Normally, if y ou’re using a center speaker, the center channel sound is output from only the center speaker.

To achieve the same referenc e level in a home theater system each speaker level must be adjusted so that –30 dBFS band-limited (500 Hz to 2000 Hz) pink noise produces 75 dB sound pressure level at the listening position.
Advanced Operations En-62 Name Edit You can enter a custom name for each individual in put selector and radio preset for easy identifi cation. When entered, the custom name will app ear on the display. The custom name is edited using the keyboard screen.
Advanced Operations En-63 ■ Picture Mode *1*3 ` Custom : All settings can be performed manually. ` Cinema : Select when the picture source is a mov ie or alike. ` Game : Select when t he video s ource is a game console. ` Through : Does not adjust picture qua lity (changes resolution).
Advanced Operations En-64 Audio Selector ■ Audio Selector ` ARC : The audio signal from your TV tuner can be sent to HDMI OUT MAIN of the AV receiver. *1 With this selection, the TV’s audio can be automatically selected as a priority among other assignments.
Advanced Operations En-65 ■ Analog/PCM/Digital With this setting, you can specify the listening mode used when an analog (CD, TV, LD, VHS, MD, turntable, radio, cassette, cable, satellit e, etc.) or PCM digital (CD, DVD, etc.) audio signal is played.
Advanced Operations En-66 ■ Power On Volume ` Last , Mi n , 1 to 99 or Max (Absolute display) ` Last , – Q dB , –81dB to +18dB (Relative display) With this preference, you can specify the volume setting to be used each time the AV rece iver is turned on.
Advanced Operations En-67 HDMI ■ HDMI Control(RIHD) ` Off ` On Turn this setting on to allow p -compatible components connected via HDM I to be controlled by the AV receiver ( ➔ page 93 ).
Advanced Operations En-68 Note • This setting is fixed to “ ---- ” when the “ HDMI Control(RIHD) ” setting is set to “ Of f ”. • This setting is set to “ Auto ” automatically when the “ HDMI Control(RIHD) ” setting is set to “ On ” for the first time.
Advanced Operations En-69 ■ IP Address ` Class A: “ 10.0.0.0 ” to “ 10.255.255.255 ” ` Class B: “ 172.16.0.0 ” to “ 172.31.255.255 ” ` Class C: “ 192.168.0.0 ” to “ 192.168.255.255 ” Enter a static IP address pr ovided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

En-73 Controlling Other Components iPod/iPhone Playback via Onkyo Dock RI Dock With the RI Dock, you can easily play the music of your iPod/iPhone, or watch the slid eshows and videos of your iPod/iPhone on a TV.
Controlling Other Components En-74 By pressing the REMOTE MODE button that’s been programmed with the remote control code for your Dock, you can control your iPod/iPhone in the Dock with the buttons described further in this section. See “Entering Remote Control Codes” for details on entering a remote control code ( ➔ page 76 ).
Controlling Other Components En-75 Controlling Other Components You can use the AV receiver’s remot e controller to cont rol your other AV components. This section explains how to enter the remote control code for a component that you want to control : DVD, TV, CD, etc.

Controlling Other Components En-78 Controlling MHL-Enabled Mobile De vice By programming the supplied re mote controller with the appropriate remote control code, you can use it to operate your MHL-enabled mobile device. Connect your MHL-enabled mobile device to the AUX INPUT MHL jack.
