E n AM/FM T uner T-4355 Instruction Manual Thank you for purchasing an Onkyo AM/FM T uner . Please read this manual thoroughly before making connections and plugging in the unit. Follo wing the instructions in this manual will enable you to obtain optimum performance and listening enjoyment from your new T uner .

3 Precautions 1. Recording Copyright —Unless it’ s for personal use only , recording c opyrighted mate rial is illeg al with- out the permission of the copyright holder . 2. A C Fuse —The AC fuse inside the unit is not user- serviceable. If you cannot turn on the unit, contact your Onkyo dealer .

7 Fr ont & Rear P anels —Continued MEM (Memory) indicator This indicator lights up when storing radio presets. A UTO in dicator This indicator lights up when the FM mode is Auto Stereo. /FM ST indicators These indicators show the status of the radio recep- tion.
8 Remote Contr oller B AND button (14) This button can be used to select the FM or AM band. If the T-4355 and A-9355/A-9155 are connected with an cable, pressing this b utton while the entire system is on Standby will turn on only the T-4355 and A-9355/A-9155.
9 Remote Controller —Contin ued The T-4355 doesn’t ha ve its o wn remote controller , but it can be controlled by using the RC-627S remote con- troller that’ s supplied with the Onkyo A-9355/A-91 55 Integrated Amplif ier . The T-4355 and A-9355/A-9155 must be connected with an cable and an audio cable for this to work.
10 Connecting the T-4355 Use the supplied audio cable to connect the T-4355’ s AN ALOG A UD IO OUTPUT L/R jacks to the analog input jacks on the amplif ier , as shown. T o use the system functions, use the supplied cable to make an connection. Notes: • The T-4355 has two jacks.
11 Connecting the T-4355 —Continued If you connect the T-4355 to an other Onkyo -capa- ble component with the supplied cable and audio cable, you can use the follo wing system functions. cables are special cable s solely for use with Onkyo products.
12 Connecting Antennas This section explains ho w to connect the supplied indoor FM antenna and AM loop antenna and ho w to connect commercially av ailable outdoor FM and AM antennas.
13 Connecting Antennas —Continued If you cannot achie ve good reception with the supplied indoor FM antenna, try using a commercially a vailable outdoor FM antenna instead. Notes: • Outdoor FM antennas work best outside, but accep t- able results can sometimes be obtained when installed in an attic or loft.
14 T urning On the T-4355 Using the A-9355/A-915 5’ s Remote Controller If you’ re using the T-4355 together with the A-9355/A-9155 Onkyo amplif ier , press the remote con- troller’ s [ON] button to turn on the T-4355 and A-9355/A-9155. (Plug the T-4355 po wer cord into the A-9355/A-9155 A C OUTLET.
15 Listening to the Radio —Continued Y ou can store up to 30 of your f av orite radio stations as presets for quick sele ction. Stations can be preset auto- matically using the Auto Preset function or manually . Notes: • Y ou can preset up to 30 AM/FM stations.
16 Listening to the Radio —Continued Note: If you store a station to a preset that already had a sta- tion stored in it, the previous st ation will be replaced. After Storing Presets Y ou Can • Select them and enjoy your f av orite stations. • Name them for easy identif ication (see page 17).
17 Listening to the Radio —Continued Radio presets can be named for easy identification, and names may contain up to 8 ch aracters from the follo w- ing selection. The underscore (_) character is actually a space. Hints: • T o cancel the naming process without storing the name, press the [MEMOR Y] button.
18 Listening to the Radio —Continued Indiv idual presets can be deleted as follows. By pressing the T-4355’ s [DISPLA Y] button repeatedly , you can view the tuning frequenc y or text (preset name or RDS). Note: If the current preset doesn’ t hav e a name, no text will be displayed.
19 Listening to the Radio —Continued RDS stands for Radio Data System an d is a method of transmitting data in FM radio signals. Many FM sta- tions use it these days.
20 T roub leshooting If you hav e any trouble using the T-4355, look for a solution here. If you can’t resolve the issue yourself, contact your Onkyo deal er . Can’t turn on the T-4355. • Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged into the w all outlet (page 14).
