Connections En-12 Speaker Configuration The following table indicates the channels you should use depending on the number of speakers that you have. No matter how many speakers you use, a powered subwoofer is recommended for a really p owerful and solid bass.
Connections En-13 Speaker Connecti on Precautions Read the following before connecting your speakers: • You can connect speakers with an impedance of between 6 and 16 ohms. If you use speakers with a lowe r impedance, and use the amplif ier at high volume levels for a long period of time, the built-in am p protection circuit may be activated.

Advanced Operations En-41 Menu HDMI Input If you connect a video compone nt to an HDMI input, you must assign that input to an i nput selector. For example, if you connect your Blu-ray Disc/DVD player to HDMI IN 2 , you must assign “ HDMI2 ” to the “ BD/DVD ” input selector.
Advanced Operations En-42 Menu Digital Audio If you connect a component to a digital audio input, you must assign that input to an i nput selector. For example, if you connect your CD player to the OPTICAL IN 1 , you must assign “ OPTICAL1 ” to the “ TV/CD ” input selector.

This setting affects volume the most. It qui ets the loud part s, such as explosions, and boosts th e quiet parts so they can be heard.
Advanced Operations En-47 Audio Selector ■ Au dio Selector ` ARC : The audio signal from your TV tuner can be sent to the HDMI OU T of the AV receiver. *1 With this selection, the TV’s audio can be automatically selected as a priority among other assignments.
Advanced Operations En-48 Tuner ■ AM Fre q Step ` 10kHz : ` 9kHz : Select the frequency step according to your area. For AM tuning to work properly, you must specify the AM frequency step used in your area. Note • When this setting is changed, all radio presets will be de leted.
Advanced Operations En-49 ■ Au dio TV Out ` Off ` On This preference determines whether the incoming audio signal is output from the HDMI outpu t. You may want to turn this preference on if your TV is connected to the HDMI output and you want to listen to the audio fro m a connected component through y our TV’s speakers.
Advanced Operations En-50 Speaker Leve ls ■ Subwoofer Level ` –15 dB to 0d B to +12 dB in 1 dB steps ■ Center Level ` –12 dB to 0d B to +12 dB in 1 dB steps You can adjust the volume of each speaker while listening to an input source. These temporary adjust ments are cancelled when the AV receiver is set to standby.
Advanced Operations En-51 Music Opti mizer ■ Music Optimizer ` Off ` On The Music Optimizer function enhances the sound quality of compressed music files. The M.Opt indicator lights on the AV receiver’s display. Tip • Alter natively, you can use the AV receiver’s MUSIC OPTIMIZER .
En-52 Controlling Other Components iPod/iPhone Playback via Onkyo Dock RI Dock With the RI Dock, you can easily play the music stored on your Apple iPod/iPhone through th e AV receiver and enjoy great sound, and watch iPod/iP hone slideshows and videos on your TV.
Controlling Other Components En-53 By pressing the REMOTE MODE button that’s been programmed with the remote control code for your Dock, you can control your iPod/iPhone in the Dock with the buttons described further in this section. See “Entering Remote Control Codes” for details on entering a remote control code ( ➔ page 54 ).
