3 Precautions 1. Recording Copyright — Unless it ’ s for personal use only , recording copyrighted material is illegal with- out the permission of the copyright holder . 2. A C Fuse — The A C fuse inside the unit is not user- serviceable. If you cannot turn on the unit, contact your Onkyo dealer .

7 Front & Rear P anels —Continued A REMO TE CONTROL jacks (11) These two identical (Remote Interacti ve) jacks can be connected to the jacks on your other Onkyo components for interacti ve control. T o use , the DX-7555 must be connected with an cable and an audio cable.

9 Bef ore Using the DX-7555 Notes: • If the remote controller doesn ’ t w ork reliably , try replacing the batteries. • Don ’ t mix ne w and old batteries or different types of batteries. • If you intend not to use the remote controller for a long time, remov e the batteries to prev ent damage from leakage or corrosion.
10 Connecting the DX-7555 • Read the manuals supplied with your other audio equipment. • Don ’ t connect the po wer cord until you ’ ve completed all audio connections.
11 Connecting the DX-7555 —Continued W ith (Remote Interactiv e) you can control the DX-7555 together with your other -compatible Onkyo A V components.
12 T urning On the DX-7555 After power is supplied by turning on the switch: If you turn off the PO WER switch while power is sup- plied, the DX-7555 will be powered ne xt time you turn on the PO WER switch. If you turn off the PO WER switch during Standby mode, the DX-7555 will be put on standby next time you turn on the PO WER switch.
13 Playing CDs —Continued ■ T o Stop Playbac k Press the Stop [ ] button. ■ T o Pause Pla yback Press the Pause [ ] b utton. The Pause indicator appears.
14 Playing CDs —Continued ■ Selecting MP3 T racks Y ou don ’ t ha ve to na vigate the folder hierarchy to fi nd an MP3 track because all folders that contain MP3 tracks appear at the same lev el. This mode can be used during playback and while playback is stopped.
15 Playing CDs —Continued ■ T o Select MP3 T racks in Navigation Mode W ith Navigation mode you can select MP3 tracks by navigating through the folder hierarch y . This mode can only be used while playback is stopped. This section explains ho w to select MP3 folders and tracks by number .
16 Playing CDs —Continued This section explains ho w to display various informa- tion, including the remaining track time, remaining disc time, disc name, track name, and various ID3 tags for MP3 tracks, including title name, artist name, and so on.

20 V arious Settings —Continued A UDIO DIGI OUT (ON/OFF) This preference con fi gures the setting to switch the dig- ital output on and off. While listening to an analog source, you are recom- mended to turn off the digital output for better sound quality .
21 V arious Settings —Continued PHASE (Switching Analog Output Phase) * This preference con fi gures the setting to switch the phase of the audio output. Y ou may giv e it a try to switch and listen so that an opti- mum sound quality can be obtained from the ampli fi er and the speakers on line.
22 V arious Settings —Continued T o Return Each Setting to the Factory Default 1 Stop playbac k. • The numbers of all the groups (fold- ers) and the tracks should be indi- cated on the display . • The memory mode should be dese- lected. 2 Press and hold the ST OP button until “ SETUP MENU ” appears on the display (about a f ew sec- onds).
23 About CDs Handling CDs • Carefully lift the disc from its case, making sure to hold it by its edges or cen- ter hole. • Y ou can use a soft, dry cloth to wipe dust and fi nger- prints off the surf ace of CDs. Do not use volatile agents, such as thinner or benzene.
24 About CDs —Continued • MP3 fi le and folder names (excluding the e xtension) are shown on the display . • The emphasis is not supported. • Multisession discs are supported, howe ver , some mul- tisession discs may take a long time to load and some may not load at all.
25 T roub leshooting If you hav e any trouble using the DX-7555, look for a solution here. If you can ’ t resolve the issue yourself, contact your Onkyo dealer . Can ’ t turn on the DX-7555. • Make sure that the po wer cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet (page 12).
26 T roubleshooting —Continued does not work. • There ’ s no RCA/phono analog audio connection. T o use you must mak e an analog audio connection (RCA/phono) between the DX-7555 and your Onkyo A V receiv er, e ven if they are connected digitally .
