6 F eatur es Memory Preserv ation This unit does not require memory preser vation batteries. A built-in memory power bac k-up system preser v es the contents of memory dur ing po wer failures and e ven when the PO WER switch is set to OFF . The PO WER switch must be set to ON in order to charge the back-up system.

18 Before operating your stereo system, y ou need to set up the speaker configuration and the distance from the listening position to each speaker . Note It is not necessar y to set the parameters again once you hav e completed the setup (with one exception*) unless you change the speaker configuration.

28 Pla ying the Connected Sour ce This section shows you ho w to play the sources connected to the D VD Receiver. Y ou may need to see “Connecting to a TV” on page 10 and “Connecting to Audio/Video Equipment” on pa ge 11 while following the steps in this section.
29 Basic Operation Listening Thr ough Headphones Connect the plug of the stereo headphones to the PHONES jac k on the D VD Receiver. Notes • The speakers will not reproduce sound while headphones are connected. • Sound will automatically be s witched to stereo after connecting the headphones to the PHONES jac k.
30 Enjoying the Sound Effects The surround sound of the D VD Receiver enables y ou to enjoy the presence of a mo vie theater or concer t hall in your room. Before using any sound eff ect, make sure the Speaker Setup configur ations have been set (see page 18).
