10 En Bef ore Using the Compact Disc Pla yer Note • If the remot e controller doesn’t work reliably , try replac ing the batteries. • Don’t mix ne w and old batteries or different types of batteries. • If you intend not to use the re mote controller fo r a long time, remove the batteries to pre v ent damage from leakage or corrosion.

15 En The compact disc player supports the following discs. • Do not use discs designed for purposes other than audio, such as CD-ROMs for PC use. Abnormal noise could damage the speakers or compact disc player. • The compact disc player supports CD-R and CD-RW discs.
16 En MP3 and WMA files recorded on a CD-R/C D-R W can be played with this compact disc player . • Use discs which have been recorded following the ISO9660 Level 2 file system . (The supported directory depth is eight levels, the same as ISO9660 Level 1) Discs recorded with the hierarc hical file system ( HFS) cannot be played.
17 En Connecti ons Connections Note • Push plugs in all the way to make good connections ( loose connections can cause noise or malfunctions ). • T o prevent interference, keep audio cables away from power cords and speaker cables.
18 En Tip • T o reduce noise, do not tie the signal ca ble and power cable together . Wire them so that they are away from each other . Note • Never disconnect the power cord from the compact disc player while the other end is still plugged int o a wall outlet.

21 En Turning On & Basic O perations Basic Operations (A udio CD Disp lay) (MP3/WMA Display) Tip • After a certain period of warning up, the temperature of the compact disc player’ s components and internal temperature are stabilized, and the sound will soften.
22 En (A udio CD Display) (MP3/WMA Display) File name will be di splayed by scrolling. Tip • Only alphanumeric characters in MP3/WMA CD inf ormation are displayed correctly .
23 En For MP3/WMA CDs, f iles (MP3/WMA files) ma y be orga nized in a hierarchically , with folders containing files and subfolders, as show n below . For the com pact disc player, there are tw o modes for selecting f iles (MP3/WMA f i les): Navigation mode and All Fo lder mode.
24 En In All Folder mode, you don’ t have to navig ate the folder hierarchy because all folders th at contain files appear at the same l ev el. This mode can only be used while playback is stopped. T o cancel the procedure at any point, p ress 2 . ■ To Select Folders and Files by Number 1.
25 En Advanced O perations Ad v anced Operations In repeat playback, you can play an entire disc repeatedly , play one track repeatedly , or combine it with memory playback to play the play list repeatedly , or random playback to play al l of the tracks on the disc in random order repeatedly .

29 En In random playback, all of the f iles on the disc are played in random order . This mode can only be used while playback is stopped. 33 En Others T r oubleshooting • Make sure that the power cord is properly plugged into the wall outlet ( ➔ 18 ). • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait 5 seconds or more, then plug it in again. • When the set ASb starts running, the compact disc player will automatically go Standby ( ➔ 32 ).
34 En • The disc is upside down. Lo ad the disc with the label- side facing up ( ➔ 15 , 22 ). • The disc is dirt y. Remove the disc and clean it ( ➔ 15 ). • If condensation a ppears, unplug the power cord and leave the compact disc player more than 3 hour s at room temperatur e.
