3 EN EN Introduction Thank you for purchasing the OMRON R3-I Plus Wrist Blood Pressure M onitor . This remarka ble, compact and easy t o use instrument is ideal for people who frequently m onitor their own blood pressur e. The small, pre-formed wrist cuff is very convenient and easy to apply .
4 Import a nt Safety Information Consult your docto r during pregnancy , arr hythmia and arteriosclerosis. People with poor peripheral circulation may find that results for measurements taken at the wrist vary from those taken on the upper arm. Please read this sect ion carefully before using the unit.

8 2. Prep aration 2.1 Inst alling/Repla cing the Batteries 1. Remove th e battery compartment cover by pulling it off in the direction of the arrow . 1) Grasp both ends of the battery cover. 2) Pull the cover off the main unit. 2. Insert two identical 1.
9 2.Prep aration EN 3. Put the battery cover back in place. Note: Be su re to set the date and time after installing or replacing the batteries. Refer to “2.2 Setting the Date and T ime”. The measurement values continue to be stored in memory e ven after the batteries are r eplaced.
10 2.Prep aration 2.2 Setting the Date and T ime Y our blood pressure m onitor aut omatically stores up to 60 measurement values in its memory and calculates an average value based on the three most recent measurements taken within 10 minutes of t he last reading.
11 2.Prep aration EN 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set the month and day . 5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to set the hour and minutes for the time. After all settings are completed the display may still be flashing. T o confirm settings and sh ut of f the unit press O/I ST ART button.
12 3. Using the Uni t 3.1 Applying the Wris t Cuff Y ou can take a measurement on eit her your left or right wrist. Notes: • Y ou ca n take a measurement on either your left or right wr ist. The blood pressure can differ between your right and left wrist and therefore also the measured blood pressure values can be different.
13 3.Using the Unit EN 2. Hold the bottom part of the wrist cuff and wrap i t around the wrist while pulling so that it fits comfortably . Note: Unless the wrist cuff is wrapped securely around the wrist, it m ay not be possible to take corr ect measurements.

15 3.Using the Unit EN 3.2 Correct P osture Correct posture during measurem ent helps you get accurate results. Y ou should also try to measure y our blood pressure at the same time each day . Notes: • Do not take mea surements aft er bathing, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising or eating.
16 3.Using the Unit 3.3 T aking a Re ading 1. Press the O /I ST ART button t o start measurement. The wrist cuf f will s tart to inflate automatically after the power is turned on. 2. After the unit has det ected your blood pressure and pulse rate, the cuff automatically deflates an d your blood press ure and pulse rate are displayed.
17 3.Using the Unit EN 3. Check the measurement result. The unit automatically stores blood press ure and pulse rate into it s memory . Refer to “3.4 Using the Memor y Function”. The time and date of the measurement are displayed alternately . 4. Undo the fast ener and remove the unit.
18 3.Using the Unit Symbol Informati on: • If your s ystolic or diastolic pressure is outside the standard range, the Heartbeat symbol ( ) will blink when the measurement result is displayed. Recent research suggests that the fol lowing values can be us ed as a guide to high blood pressure for measurements taken at home.
19 3.Using the Unit EN What is Irregular Heart beat? An irregular heart beat is a heartbeat rhythm that varies by m ore than 25% from the average heartbeat rhythm detected w hile the unit is meas uring the systolic and dias tolic blood pressure.
20 3.Using the Unit 3.4 Using the Memory Function This unit has a memory capable of storing 60 sets of readings. Every time you complete the measurement, the unit automatically stores blood pressure and pulse rate. If there are three readings withi n 10 minutes of the last reading, the average of the three readings is displayed.
21 3.Using the Unit EN T o Vi ew Previous Readings S tored i n Memory 1. Press the M EM button, while the aver age reading is displayed, to view readings stored in memory from the most rec ent to the oldest. Press the M EM button repeatedly to cycle through the readings.
22 3.Using the Unit 3. Press the O /I ST ART button t o turn the unit of f. Note: If you forget to turn the unit off, it will automatically shut itself off aft er two minutes . T o Delete Al l V alues in Mem ory Y ou c annot delete the stored readings partially , all the reading in the unit will be deleted.

Measure while in the correct posture. ( Refer to section 3.2.) Is the cuff wrapped sn ugly around th e wrist? Wrap the cuff correctly .
