Users can easily navigate the UEFI BIOS with the same smoothness as their operating system.
3-2 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 3.2.1 EZ Mode By default, the EZ Mode screen appears when you enter the BIOS setup program. The EZ Mode provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to select the display language, system performance mode and boot device priority .
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-3 Chapter 3 3.2.2 Advanced Mode The Advanced Mode provides advanced options for experienced end-users to congure the BIOS settings. The gure below shows an example of the Advanced Mode. Refer to the following sections for the detailed congurations.
3-4 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 Menu items The highlighted item on the menu bar displays the specic items for that menu. For example, selecting Main shows the Main menu items. The other items (Ai T weaker, Advanced, Monitor , Boot, T ool, and Exit) on the menu bar have their respective menu items.
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-5 Chapter 3 3.3 Main menu The Main menu screen appears when you enter the Advanced Mode of the BIOS Setup program. The Main menu provides you an overview of the basic system information, and allows you to set the system date, time, language, and security settings.
3-6 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 Administrator Password If you have set an administrator password, we recommend that you enter the administrator password for accessing the system. Otherwise, you might be able to see or change only selected elds in the BIOS setup program.
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-7 Chapter 3 3.4 Ai Tweaker menu The Ai T weaker menu items allow you to congure overclocking-related items. Be cautious when changing the settings of the Ai T weaker menu items. Incorrect eld values can cause the system to malfunction.

Increase the phase number under heavy system loading to get more transient and better thermal performance. Reduce the phase number under light system loading to increase VRM efciency .
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-1 1 Chapter 3 DRAM Fixed Frequency Mode [300] This item only appears when you set the DRAM Frequency Mode item to [Manual] , and allows you to set a xed DRAM frequency . Use the <+> and <-> keys to adjust the value. The values range from 300k Hz to 500k Hz with a 50k Hz interval.
3-12 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 VDDNB Offset V oltage [Auto] This item appears only when you set the CPU V oltage item to [Offset Mode] and allows you to set the VDDNB Offset voltage. The values range from 0.00625V to 0.500V with a 0.00625V interval.
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-13 Chapter 3 Be cautious when changing the settings of the Advanced menu items. Incorrect eld values can cause the system to malfunction. 3.5 Advanced menu The Advanced menu items allow you to change the settings for the CPU and other system devices.

The items shown in this screen may be different due to the CPU you installed. AMD PowerNow function [Enabled] Enables or disables the AMD PowerNow function.

ASUS A88X-PRO 3-19 Chapter 3 3.5.6 APM Deep S4 [Disabled] When enabled, the system in S4 state will further reduce power usage and will power off the USB and PS/2 devices. The system in deep S4 state can be woken up via the power button, devices in LAN, or other ways except via the USB and PS/2 devices.

3-22 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 CPU T emperature / MB T emperature [xxxºC/xxxºF] The onboard hardware monitor automatically detects and displays the CPU and motherboard temperatures. Select Ignore if you do not wish to display the detected temperatures.
ASUS A88X-PRO 3-23 Chapter 3 Q-Fan Max. Duty Cycle(%) [100] Use the <+> and <-> keys to adjust the maximum CPU fan duty cycle. The values range from 20% to 100%. When the CPU temperature reaches the upper limit, the CPU fan will operate at the maximum duty cycle.
3-24 Chapter 3: BIOS setup Chapter 3 CHA_F AN1/2/3/4 Fan Max. Duty Cycle(%) [100] Use the <+> and <-> keys to adjust the maximum chassis fan duty cycle. The values range from 60% to 100%. When the chassis temperature reaches the upper limit, the chassis fan will operate at the maximum duty cycle.
