9 Basic Operations Introduction The Multi Selector This section describes standard uses of th e multi selector to select modes, select menu options and to appl y selec tion. Press the multi selector up, down, le ft, or right to select options, or press the k (apply selection) button.

17 Charging the Battery First Steps Turning On and Off the Camera To turn on th e camera, press t he power switch. The power-on lamp (green) will light for a moment and the monitor will turn on. To turn off the camer a, press the power s witch again. When the camera is turned off, both the power-on lamp and monitor will turn off .

Note that formatting permanen tly deletes al l pictures and other data on the memory card. Be sure to make cop ies of any pictures you wish to keep before form atting the memory card.

33 Basic Photography and Playback: A (Auto) Mode Macro Mode Macro mode is used for taking pictures of objects as close as 8 cm (3.2 in.). Note that the flash may be unable to light the entire subject at distances of less than 50 cm (1 ft. 8 i n.). 1 Press the multi selector p (macro mode).
