7 STEP 3 – Foot Platfor ms Assembly a) Place the Metal Sleev es ov er the studs on Foot T ube. Place the longer (black) Slee ves on center studs. b) Slide the Foot Platf or m on the metal sleeves. T o secure the Foot Platf or ms , line up holes and inser t front and rear M6 x 20mm Phillips Bolts and M6 W asher s .

Once y our New Balance 8.0e Elliptical Tr ainer is assembled, mak e sure that y our w orkout space has a solid, lev el surf ace with plenty of space around it. W e recommend placing a mat under y our unit to protect y our flooring. Bef ore y ou begin y our f irst workout on the New Balance 8.
10 Stationar y Handlebars Place y our hands midw ay between the top and bottom of the left and right ar ms on the stationar y handlebar s. Adjust your hands up and do wn until y ou f ind the position most comf or ta ble f or you. Bend y our elbows slightly so that y our ar ms are not h yperextended or “locked out” .
OPERA TING THE ELECTRONICS 11 Introduction Y our unit is equipped with a progr ammable computer to help y ou trac k y our progress and motiv ate y ou to reach y our f itness goals. This computer pro vides dif ferent pr ograms designed to tailor to y our f itness goals.
12 Buttons and Definitions ENTER: This button allows users to set the Progr am and Time on Pr ogr ams 1-10 and Time and Age on Progr ams 11-12. START: This button allo ws the user to ST OP or ST ART exercising. (By holding this button f or two seconds the user can reset all v alues to “0”).
13 LCD Contrast Calibration The contrast of the screen can be adjusted b y the follo wing steps: • During the STOP mode, press and hold the ENTER and ▲ UP buttons together f or ov er tw o seconds. Y ou will hear a faint beep. This will open the LCD contrast calibration mode.

If y ou are just beginning y our exercise pr ogram, y our target heart rate r ange should be roughly at 60% of y our maxim um hear t rate.

18 Stretches can help impro ve f lexibility and relieve the tightness in m uscles that results from repetitiv e spor t mov ements that require a limited range of motion, like elliptical striding. 10 to 12 minutes of daily stretching is recommended. This can be done w hen warming up or cooling down.

20 Storing Directions Y our elliptical trainer is lightw eight, compact and porta ble. It can be easily mov ed from place to place. • Stand in front of the trainer and m ake sure that the dual-action handlebars are even. They are e ven when one foot platf orm is at the top of the elliptical disc and the other is at the bottom.
