Gett ing St arted 1-11 Connecting to Your PC via Serial The MobilePr o is designed to be a co mpan io n PC. Most users want to syn chronize the Mobi lePro 790 wi th a host PC . T he lat est work don e on either the MobilePro or the h ost PC automatically appears on both machines, on ce the s ynchronization process occurs.
1-12 Getting Star ted Proceed to the next section to check the availabilit y of the serial port on your hos t P C. Ensuring the Availab ility of the Serial Port The serial port on y our host PC must be av ailable for syn chronization with your NEC MobileP ro.

I f yo ur ho st PC has a 25 -pin se rial po rt, use a n ad apt er (available in most com p uter stores ). Proceed to the nex t sect ion to install Micro soft ActiveS ync.

Using the NEC MobilePro 4-3 If the MobilePro is not used for a specified length of time, it auto matically shut s o ff . Yo u can s elect how long t he uni t remains on when r unn i ng on battery power alone through the Po wer selection in the Windows CE Control Panel.

For optim um perform ance, frequently back up and sy nchronize th e Mob ile Pr o da ta with your hos t P C. T he n if so met hin g ha pp ens, most of your data is still available.
