English-2 Intended Use The MD21 1G3 Grayscale display is intended to be used for displaying and viewing of digital images for diagnosis by trained physicians. T o guarantee the display performance as specifi ed, it must only be used in conjunction with NEC approved display controllers.

English-5 English Image P ersistence: When a residual or “ghost” image of a previous image remains visible on the screen, this is called image persistence. Unlike CRT monitors, LCD monitors’ image persistence is not permanent, but constant images being displayed for a long period of time should be avoided.

English-13 English SETTING OSD LANGU A GE • Set the OSD language before using OSD functions. • Use the control keys (LEFT/RIGHT or UP/DOWN or EXIT) to access the “LANGUAGE SELECTION” menu. • Press the LEFT/RIGHT or UP/DOWN buttons to select the desired OSD language.
English-14 VIDEO DETECT Selects the video detection method, when more than one video signal source is connected. FIRST : When current video input signal is not present, then the monitor searches for a video signal from a dif ferent video source.
English-15 English F ACT OR Y PRESET Selecting Factory Preset allows you to reset all OSD control settings (LUMINANCE, IMAGE CONTROL, PICTURE MODE, SHARPNESS, OFF MODE, OSD LEFT/RIGHT , OSD UP/DOWN, OSD TURN OFF) back to the factory settings. Individual settings can be reset by highlighting the control to be reset and pressing the RESET button.
English-16 Using the PICTURE MODE function Choose the Picture Mode which is most suitable for the type of displayed content. These modes are available: USER 1, 2. • Each PICTURE MODE includes LUMINANCE, GAMMA, BLACK and AMBIENT LIGHT COMP . settings.
English-17 English Ad v anced OSD <How to use the ad vanced OSD> • When both OSD and Key Guide are off, push the “RESET” and “EXIT” buttons two times simultaneously . • Y ou will see the Advanced OSD. This menu is larger than the normal OSD and has a tagged structure from T ag 1 to 9.
English-18 V .RESOLUTION* 2 Adjusts the vertical size by increasing or decreasing the setting. Press “RIGHT” button to expand the height of the image on the screen. Press “LEFT” button to narrow the height of the image on the screen. EXP ANSION* 2 Sets the zoom method.
English-19 English UNIFORMITY* 1 This function electronically compensates the slight variations in the white uniformity level that may occur across the display area of the screen. These variations are a characteristic of LCD panel technology . This function evens out the luminance uniformity of the display .
English-20 T ag7 GRA YSCALE MODE This function changes the display image to monochrome. There are 4 types of settings. OFF: Displays the color input signal in grayscale. MODE1: The signal Input is 8 bit monochrome. The display shows a grayscale image.

English-23 English T roub leshooting No Picture • The signal cable should be completely connected to the display controller/computer . • The display controller should be completely seated in its slot. • The monitor does not support a DisplayPort converter signal.
English-24 ST AND-ALONE CALIBRA TION Stand alone calibration can recalibrate the display without using a computer by the front sensor or connecting an external sensor . There are 5 functions in ST AND-ALONE CALIBRA TION. • Self Calibration: Calibrates the front sensor based on the USB optical sensor .
English-25 English Self Calibration Calibrates the front sensor based on the USB optical sensor . Or to manually adjust the integrated front sensor with an external near range luminance sensor reference, which is traceable to a primary standards laboratory .
English-26 Cop y Calibration The luminance can be copied from one display to one or more additional displays. Using this feature reduces the variation between different displays allowing them to match each other more closely . USB optical sensor Figure C.
