5 Intr oduction Y our new multimedia projector provides three c omputer , three video, and two aud io input s, one audi o output, RS -232 cont ro l , and ha s XGA 1024x7 68 resol ution. Optional user -changeable sho rt, fi xed short, long and super long thr ow lenses make th is a flexible pr oduct suitable for many dif ferent uses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector provid es three computer an d three video conn ection options: • one M1-D (DVI with USB) • one VESA computer • one BNC (RGBH V and Pr , Pb, Y) • one componen.
7 P osit i oning the projector T o determine where to posit ion the projector , consider the size and s h a pe of your scr een, the location of y our power outlets, a n d the distance between the proj ector and the r est of your equipment.
8 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the VESA c o m puter ca b le t o the C omputer 2 connecto r on the pr ojector . Connect the ot her end to the vide o port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the moni- tor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
9 If you are using a desktop computer and want to see the image on your computer screen a s well as on the pr ojection screen, plug the monitor cable to the Monitor out conn ect or on the projector . Y ou can also connect to your computer using a BNC cable.
10 Displa ying a computer image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch on the b a ck of the projector to the on position, t h en press t h e Po w e r button on the to p of the projector or t he remote. The LED fla shes green a n d the fans start to r un.
11 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer ru nning W indows 98 to the projector , the computer recognizes t h e projector as “new hardw a r e” and the Add Ne w Ha rdw are W i za rd ap pe ars .

13 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the heigh t of the projector , if n ecessary , by pr essing the r elease but- tons on ea ch side of the pro ject o r ’s front to extend the elevator feet. Position the projector the desir ed distance from t h e screen at a 90 deg ree angle (perpend ic ula r ) to the screen.
14 Connecting a video de vice Standa rd vide o conne ction s Plug th e audio/vide o (A/V) cable’s yello w connector i nto the video- out conn ector on th e video dev ice. Plug the other ye llow conn ector into the yel- low Video 3 connector on the pr ojector .
15 Y ou can also conn e c t to your video device using a BNC cab l e. Connect the BNC connectors of the BNC cable t o the appr opriate Com puter 3 connec- tors on the projector .

The LED fla shes green a n d the fans start to r un. When the lamp c omes on, the sta rtup scr een is displayed and the LED is s t ea dy green.
17 Adjust th e zoom or focus b y pr essing the power Zoom or power Fo cu s buttons on the keypad until the desi red im age size and foc us are pr oduced. Y ou can also a d just the zoom and focus via the menus . See page 32 If the image is not on the scr een or viewing ar ea, adjust t h e it b y pressing the lens shift butt on on the keyp ad.
18 Shutting do wn the projector The projector a utomatical ly blanks the sc r e en after no acti ve source is detected for 3 0 m i nut e s. This blank scr een helps preser v e t h e life of the pro - jector . The image r eturns when an active sour ce is detected or a r emote or keypad b utton is press ed.

26 Using the k eypad buttons Most bu ttons are des cribed in detai l in other sect ions, bu t her e is an over- view of the ir functions: pow e r –tu rns the p rojector on (pag e 10) and of f (page 16) . lens shift –shifts the pr ojected imag e up or down zo om – m o v es t h e projected image closer or further away .
27 Using the remote control The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries . They are easily installed by slidi ng the cover of f the re mote's back, aligning the + and - end s of the batteries , sliding them into place, and th en replacin g the cover .
28 Using the audio T o play so und from the projector , con nect your source to the Audio In c on- nector on the pr ojector . T o adjust t h e volume, use the buttons on t h e keypad or remote. T o adjust t h e balance, or loudness, u s e the Audio menu (s ee page 35).
29 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected properly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize the i mage using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rma t ion on using the menu s, see page 31. • Adjus t the Key stone, Co ntrast, or Bright ness in t he Picture me nu.
30 Optimizi ng video imag es After the video device is connected pr operly and the image is on the screen, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on u s ing the menus, see page 3 1. • Adju st the K eystone, Contr ast, Brightness , Color , or T int in the Picture menu.
31 Using the menus T o o pen the me nus, p re ss the menu b utton on the keypad or re mote. (The menus a u to matically c l ose after 60 second s if no button s are pressed.) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t h e desired sub m e nu, then press the Selec t button.
32 Picture menu T o adj ust the followi n g six settings, hi ghlight the setting, pr ess Sel ect , use the up an d down arro ws to adjust the val u e s, then press select to confirm the c hanges. Zoom : allows you to adj ust a lens to zoom in a nd out.
33 Presets : The pr ovided Preset s optimize the projector for displaying com- puter pr esentations, ph otographs, film images, and video images. (Film input is material origin ally captur ed on a film cam era, like a movie; video input is material origin ally captur ed on a video cam era, like a T V show or sporting event.
34 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only) cha nges the clarity of the edges of a video image. Select a s harpness sett ing. Color S pace : This opt ion applies to compu t e r and component vide o sour ces. It al lows you to select a colo r space th at has been s pecifically tuned for the input signal .
35 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustments to the Balance a nd V olume. Also allows you to turn on and of f t he Internal s peakers, and proj e c tor startup Ch ime. Sources : al lows you to assi gn a particu lar input to a specific sour ce key when using the In tegrator r emo te.
36 Screen Sav e : a utomatically b la n ks t h e scr een after no signals are detected for fiv e minutes. The ima g e returns when a n a c tiv e source i s detect ed or a remote or key pad button is pr essed. Screen S ave is dis abled when P ower Sav e is enabled.
37 PiP : (Pictur e in Pictur e) allows you to overlay a sm aller window sh owing the video s ou r ce on top of the lar ger computer sour c e wi n dow . Only video sour ces 2 and 3 (composite a nd S-video) support PiP . Y ou must have b oth a computer and video sou r ce connect e d to use PiP .
38 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ethernet connector that s upports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is w il l a ll ow for t h e cont rol a n d management of th e projector over a corpora te n etwork. The following fields are accessible when DHCP is not checked a nd available for manual entry of data.
39 Maintenance NO TE : When you are performi ng maintenance activities on your pr ojector , keep in m ind tha t y ou should only r emove scr ews that ar e single-slot, or flathea d, screws. A n y other type of scr ew , such as a phillips or st ar should not be re moved.
40 6 T o r emove a lens, push the lever inside the len s housing and turn t he lens cou nter clockwise unti l it stops. 41 4 Loosen th e three captive screw s on the lamp module. W ARNINGS : • T o avoid burns, allow the projector to cool for at least 60 min u tes before you r eplace the lamp . • Do not drop t he lamp module. The glass may sha tter and cause injury .
