8 OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS A.General 1. When Mowing: a. K eep adults, chil dren, and pets aw a y from the area to be mowed. b . Wh en operat ing this mower , in the f orward direction , do not allow the steer ing lev ers to retur n to Neutral on thei r own.
9 c. A v oid tur n ing when go ing downhi ll, tractio n is at a mi nimum going downhill. d. Do not operate with disc harge s ide of the mower to w ard s treets, buildings, play- grounds, park ing lots, othe r machines, ani - mals, and other p eople. e.
10 4. Elect ric Bla de Clutch Switch: (See F igure 1.) Loc ated o n th e r ight side o f the mower beside th e ignition switch. This is an “on/off ” push pull switch that controls the elect ric blade clutch whic h supplie s power to the c ut- ting blades through t he PT O .
11 C.Initial Adjustments 1. Check the fluid levels and tires: Note: Th ese che cks sho uld be made dail y , bef ore starting the engine. a. Fue l: Us ing a g ood grade of unle aded, regular g asoli ne (for a gaso line engine ), fill the fuel tan k. When t he fuel reaches on e inch fro m the top of the tank , stop .

Ins er t the key in the ignit ion and star t s w itch and t ur n the s witc h to “On ”. g. Gasoline Engin e: If the eng ine is cold, push the c hoke to the on p osition.

16 e. Pull the te nsion er pulley a wa y from the be lt and rem ov e the P T O belt then rem ov e th e blade drive belt. f . Re verse the proc ess to install the be lt. Note: When re placing belts do not o ver- tighten. Adju st the idler pulle y so that a ten- pound pull with a spring scale betwee n tw o pulle ys deflects the belt about 1/2".
17 drain oil fr om both lef t and r ight axles. Replace and retig hten nuts. j. Coat new filter sea l with oil bef ore instal la- tion. Insta ll new h ydraulic oil fi lter filled wi th new oil. k. Add pr oper am ount of hydraulic oil t o res- er voir .
18 other elec tr ical component s. This is a stan- dard plug -in type aut omotive fuse rated at 7.5 amp . 7. Safety S wi tche s: There are f ive safety s witches in the electr ical circuit which control the eng ine.

20 Note: If y ou wish t o move th e mow er by pushin g, y ou must r elease the dynami c brak- ing. Locate the le ver s at the rear of the mo wer . Pull both le vers out a nd lock in p osition. After pushing the mower to the d esired location, return bot h leve rs to the opera ting position (See photo b elow) .
21 ca vit at ion to de v e lop whic h can destro y the pumps in a shor t time. Contaminants or foreign matter in the oil will also damage the pumps . T o p re v ent th is, use a filte r that captur es par ti cles as small as 30 microns or 30 millionths of a meter in diame- ter .
22 i. Inspect t he hy d raulic hos es, line s and fit- tings. Replac e as neces sar y . j. J ack the mower up and store it on b locks to take the weight off of the tires. 2. T o Put the Mower Back in Servi ce: a. Check the batter y . Ch arge if n ecessar y .
23 . OIL CHAR T Apply a fe w drops of SAE 20W -50 en gine oil or use a sp ra y lubr icant . Apply the oil to bo t h sides of pivot points. Wipe o ff any e xce ss.
24 P erfo rmance Adjustm ents A. High Speed T racking Adjustment If mower tracks to one s ide wit h both lap b ars in fully f orward posit ion: 1. Check air pressure in all f our t ires: a. Pressur e should be withi n speci fied ranges and balan ced s ide-to- side.
25 g. V erif y proper th rottle ad justment by check- ing RPM r eadings as out lined above . C. Dec k Corner Ball Wheel Roller Settings 1. Matching the s et height s of the ball rol lers on the four cor ners of the mow er deck to the desired cut height will prev ent edge scalping and minimize any side-to- side variance in cut height .
