Caring for the environment Disposal of packing The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled. Rather than just throwing these materi- als away, please ensure they are offe- red fo r recyc ling.
Warning and safety instructions Please read the operating instructi- ons before using the tumble dryer for the first time. They contain im- portant information about the safety, use and maintenance of the machine. This will avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine.
For safe ty reason s, do not use an ex- ten sion ca ble . There is a dan ger of over heat ing. Faulty components must only be exchanged for Miele original spare parts. Only when these parts ar e fitted can the safety standards of the machi- ne be guaranteed.
In countries where there are areas which may be subject to infestati- on by cockroaches or other vermin, pay particular attention to keeping the appliance and its surroundings in a cle- an condition at all times. Any damage which may be caused by cockroaches or other vermin will not be cov ered by the appliance guarantee.
Brief instructions Brief description Programmes are selected by turning the programme selector and can be supplemented by pressing the additio- nal option buttons.
Notes on laundry care Before drying , check the drying sym- bol on the textile ca re label . Significance of symbols: q = Dry at normal temperature r = Dry at low temperature (also push in the “Low .
How to dry correctly Hints on saving energy Make sure that your laundry has been thoroughly spun at the highest appropriate spin speed before drying. Spinning at 1600 rpm, for ex- ample, saves approximately 30% energy and time compared with 800 rpm.
2 Selecting a program me Turn the programme selector to the programme required. See the “ Programme chart ” for a de- scription of each programme. COTTONS; MINIMUM IRON; Wool- lens hand care; Smoothing The length of the programme is deter- mined by the electronics according to each load.
"Clean out airways" indicator light This indicator light shows that the dryer is not working most efficiently or econo- mically. The causes of this check message can be: – the fluff filters in the door and the se- condary filters in the door opening are blocked; – the condenser unit is blocked.
Additional options Additional options can be switched on or off by pressing the relevant but- ton before the start of a programme. Indicator lights: – on = additional option switched on – off = additional option switched off It is not possible to activate additional options which are incompatible with the basic drying programme selected.

Altering a programme Once a programme has started, no changes to the programme or addi- tional options will be accepted. If the programme selector is turned to a different programme after a program- me has begun, the “ Drying ” indi cator light will flash.
Electronic system lock The system lock prevents anyone from interfering with the dryer. To activate the system lock 1 Ensure that the door is closed and that the programme selector is turned to “ Finish ” . 2 Turn the machine on. 3 Press the “ Short ” button and keep it pressed in while carrying out steps 4 to 6 .
Programmable functions Genera l vi ew The programmable functions can be used to create drying programmes to suit your individual requirements. They will remain in the machine ’ s me- mory until cancelled. One or all of the programmable fun- ctions can be activated or cancelled.
Activating and storing in the memo ry The programmable functions are acti- vated using the additional option but- tons in special combinations with the programme selector to intoduce ex- tra features not marked up on the control panel. 1 Switch the machine off and shut the door.
Cleaning and care Cleaning the fluff filters The fluff which is created by the drying process is collected in the fluff filters in the door and door opening. Clean the filters af t er e ve r y pr o gr am - me to reduce drying time and save energy . Open the door.
Emptying the condensed wa- ter container If the hose drain has not been fitted and connected, the condensed water will be collected in the condensed wa- ter container. The condensed water container should be emptied after every drying cycle, or as soon as the “ Empty out container ” indicator light comes on.
Cleaning the condenser unit The machine must be disconnected from the electricity supply before cleaning. Check the condenser unit at least twice a year and clean it if necessary. If the dryer is used fre- quently then clean the condenser unit after approx.
Pull the condenser unit out. Clean the condenser unit at both ends (front and back). Wipe the rubber seals at both ends gently but thoroughly. Clean the two long sides of the unit. Stand the condenser unit lengthwise on a towel until it is quite dry. Replace the condenser unit (see illu- stration above left).

The i nter ior d rum li ght ing does not come on: changing the bulb Open the door. Before changing the bulb, discon- nect the machine from the mains po- wer supply. Unscrew the plastic cover above the door inside the drum. Replac e the b ulb. The light bulb must not exceed the maximum wattage quoted on the data plate and the light cover.
After sales service Repairs In the event of any fault which you can- not remedy yourself, please contact: – your Miele dealer or – your nearest Miele Service Depart- ment (see back cover for the ad- dress).
Installation The machine must be perfectly level to ensure safe and proper operation. Minor differences do not, however, have an adverse effect on operation.
External condensed water out- let The cond ense d wat er can b e draine d off dir ectly if th e mach ine is insta lled ne ar a sink, d rain ou tlet etc . A special drainage kit is required which is available from the Miele Spares De- partment or from your Miele dealer.
The dryer is fitted with a non-return val- ve as standard to prevent water from flowing back into the machine. Close the water inlet port to the con- densed water container with the bot- tom part of the rubber plug. The plug must face towards the inte- rior of the machine so that the con- densed water container can be pus- hed in easily.
