Operating instructions f or condenser tumb le dr y er Allerdr y T 4464 C T o avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the machine it is essential to read these instructions before it is installed and used for the first time.
Disposal of the packing material The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled. Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children.

T o avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the machine please read these instructions carefully befor e using it for the first time. They contain important infor mation on its safety , installation, use and maintenance. Keep these instructions in a safe place and ensure that new users ar e familiar with the content.
The machine is built in accordance with current safety r equirements. Unauthorised repairs could r esult in unforeseen dangers for the user , for which the manufacturer cannot accept liability . Repairs should only be undertaken by a Miele approved technician.
In the event of a fault or for cleaning purposes, the machine is only completely isolated from the electricity supply when: – it is switched off at the wall socket and the plug is withdrawn, or – it is switched off at the mains, or – the mains fuse is withdrawn.
T o pre vent the risk of fire the follo wing textiles m ust not be dried in this machine: – fabrics which contain a large proportion of rubber , foam rubber or rubber like materials. – items which contain padding or fillings (e.g. pillows, jackets).
a Delay Start button The start of a programme can be delayed by up to 24 hours. b Start button Press the Start button to start a programme. The Start indicator light will flash to indicate that a programme can be started. It lights up constantly once the programme has started.
Programmes – Standard drying programmes for Cotton and Minimum iron fabrics – Allerdry programme for drying garments where high standards of hygiene are r equired, suitable for allergy suffer ers for example.
Drying air The drying air in the drum circulates in a closed system and is condensed in the condenser unit. The condensed water is then collected or can be pumped away . Fluff builds up on garments when they are being worn and washed. This fluff is collected by the fluff filters in the door and the door opening.
Care symbols Before drying check the drying symbol on the care label. If ther e are no symbols, dry at your own risk! q . . . . . . . . . Dry at nor mal temperature r .
Brief instructions The headings numbered ( A , B , C ...) show the operating sequence and can be used as a brief guide to using your machine. A Sort the laundr y T o ensure an even drying result separate out the washed laundry and sort it according to: .
D Select a programme ^ T ur n the programme selector to the requir ed programme. Cottons, Minimum iron The duration of the programme selected will depend on the residual moisture of the laundry , fabric type and the load size. This may mean that the duration will be differ ent each time.
E Select additional option(s) ^ Press the r elevant button for the additional option(s) requir ed. – It is not possible to select the Low temperature and Short options at the same time. – See the programme chart for details of the options which are suitable for a particular programme.
G Start the programme ^ Press the Start button. – The indicator light for the Start button will then change from flashing to being on constantly . The dr ying cycle begins. – Depending on the programme selected, the drying stage reached is shown by the sequence indicator lights on the right hand side of the control panel.
T o switch on Dela y start The start of a programme can be delayed by up to 24 hours ( 24^ ). After selecting a programme: ^ Press the Delay start button repeatedly until the r equired delay period shows in the display . – The Delay start indicator light will flash.
Cottons Max. load: 6 kg* Normal+, Normal** Fabric type Single and multi-layered cotton fabrics such as towelling, jerseywear, underwear, flannelette bed linen. Additional options Short, Low temperature (select this option for delicate fabrics with the r symbol on the care label), Buzzer.
Timed drying Max. load: 6 kg* Warm air Fabric type – Multi-layered fabrics whose layers have different drying characteristics, e.g. jackets, pillows. – For drying individual items, e.g. bath towels, bathing costumes, tea-towels. Note Do not select the longest drying time to start with.
allerdry programme In the allerdry programmes the temperature is held constant for a longer period of time to deactivate micro-organisms, e.g. germs or house dustmites and also reduce the number of allergens in the laundry.
Changing a programme while it is running Y ou cannot change to another programme once a pr ogramme has started (this prevents unintentional alterations). If the programme selector is turned to a different pr ogramme after a programme has begun, this will not affect the pr ogramme.
Emptying the condensed water container The condensed water will be collected in the condensed water container unless the machine has been fitted with a drain hose (see installation). The condensed water container should be emptied after every drying cycle or as soon as the Empty out container indicator lamp comes on.
Cleaning the fluff filters Fluff fr om items being dried is collected by the fluff filters in the door and the door opening. Clean the filters after each drying programme.
Cleaning them with water If there is a gr eat deal of compacted fluff on any of the filters, they can be removed and cleaned under hot running water . ^ Open the door and pull the fluff filter out of the door as described previously . The two filters in the door opening can also be removed if you need to clean them with water .
Hygiene filter Replacing the hygiene filter The hygiene filter in the dryer filters out dirt par ticles from the r oom air which is drawn in to cool the condenser unit. This means that when the air which has been used to cool the condenser unit is expelled back into the room, it does not add any dirt par ticles to the air in the room.
Resetting the filter counter after fitting a new filter The Change filter indicator comes on to tell you that it is time, under normal conditions, to replace the hygiene filter with a new one. However , where excessive dust has collected it may be necessary to replace the hygiene filter mor e frequently than waiting until the indicator lights up.
Cleaning the condenser unit Detergent residue, hair and fine fluf f from the dryer can get through the fluf f filters and block the condenser unit. If the hygiene filter is not in a good condition, then dirt par ticles which are drawn in with the room air which is used to cool the condenser unit could also block the unit.
^ Pull the condenser unit out of its housing by the handle. Checking the condenser unit ^ Hold the condenser unit up to the light as shown . ^ Check to see if there is any fluf f inside it. The arrows in the illustration above indicate where to look. If you cannot see any fluff: ^ Replace the condenser unit (see following page).
^ Then flush the unit through fr om the front. ^ Check the condenser unit again for any visible fluff and if necessary flush it through again until it has all gone. ^ Remove any soiling still visible inside the housing unit by hand using a damp cloth.
With the help of the following notes minor faults in the perfor mance of the machine, some of which may result fr om incorrect operation, can be put right without contacting the Service Department.
Problem Possible cause Remedy There is a build up of fluff. Fluff is principally the result of friction when garments are being worn and washed. Machine drying hardly causes any fluff to form and has been established by research institutes to have no appreciable effect on the lifetime of the garment.
Problem Possible cause Remedy The drying process goes on too long or even switches off. Important : Before attempting to remedy one of the following causes, switch the dryer off and switch on again to start the programme again. Ventilation to and from the dryer may be insufficient (e.
Problem Possible cause Remedy The condenser unit service panel will not shut. The inner cover of the condenser unit has not been locked properly and/or the condenser unit has not been positioned correctly. – Ensure that the condenser unit is positioned correctly and lock the cover.
Check lights and fault messages Problem Possible cause Remedy The Clean out airways light comes on. This indicator light comes on to warn you that the dryer is not working efficiently. The fluff filters may be blocked. Remove any fluff (see "Cleaning and care").
Problem Possible cause Remedy The Change filter indicator light has come on. A filter counter registers the number of hours the hygiene filter has been operating for. Under normal conditions, it is time to replace the hygiene filter when the Change filter indicator light comes on.
Changing the lamp Disconnect the machine from the mains electricity supply . ^ Open the door . Y ou will find the interior lamp cover at the top of the drum aperture. ^ Insert a suitable tool, such as a wide bladed screwdriver , under the side edge of the lamp cover as illustrated.
In the event of any faults which you cannot remedy yourself, or if the machine is under guarantee, please contact – your Miele dealer or – the Miele Service Department (see back cover for contact details).

Installation site , Make sure the dryer door can be opened without hindrance after installation. T ransporting the machine to its installation site When moving the machine you can hold it by the lid where it pr otrudes to the rear of the dryer .
Replacing the lid If the lid has been removed in or der to fit a coverplate, ensure that, if the lid is ever replaced, it fits secur ely into the rear holders. Otherwise, it is not properly secur e for transport. Levelling the mac hine The machine must be perfectly level to ensure safe and pr oper operation.
Room in which the dryer is located Air taken in for use in the drying process will be warm when it is expelled from the r ear of the dryer . This expelled air heats up the air in the room. It is ther efore very important to ensure that the r oom is adequately ventilated, particularly if the dr yer is located in a small room.
External condensed water outlet When drying is in progress, condensed water is pumped into the condensed water container through the drain hose at the back of the dryer . The condensed water can also be drained off dir ectly if the machine is installed near a sink, drain outlet etc.
Connection to a sink drain outlet The drain hose can be connected directly to a sink drain outlet. ^ Remove the following from the back of the dryer at the bottom: Adapter 1 and hose clip 3 behind it. ^ Fit adapter 1 to the sink drain outlet using nut 2 .
Electrical connection U .K. All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person, in strict accordance with national and local safety regulations. Ensure power is not supplied to the appliance until after installation work has been carried out.

Altering the residual moisture level in the Cottons programmes The machine is designed to dry effectively using as little energy as possible. However , if you require the laundry to be drier , it is possible to reduce the default residual moistur e level in the Cottons programmes.

Anti-crease If laundry is not removed as soon as the programme has finished, the drum will continue to rotate at intervals for one hour to prevent creasing. The anti-crease function – is activated when the machine is delivered. Y ou can deactivate it if wished.
Memory function If an additional option has been selected for a programme or a duration has been selected for a timed drying programme, the machine will store this information in memory . When this programme is chosen again, these settings will also be selected.
Extending the cooling down time The cooling down phase which takes place before the end of a pr ogramme can be lengthened if requir ed. This makes the garments easier to handle. The dryer is delivered with the extended cooling down time option deactivated.
Clean out airways indicator The Clean out airways indicator light can be deactivated. The Clean out airways indicator light – is activated when the machine is delivered. The light is a r eminder to clean the fluff filters and to check and clean the condenser unit, if necessary .
