Use the cookto p only for i ts in- tended use. Be sure your a ppliance is properly installed and grounded by a quali- fied technician.

W arnin g and safety instru ctions Keep these instructi ons in a safe place and pass them on to any future user . Disposal of discarded appl iances Before disposal of an old ap- pliance, discon nect and remove the applian ce cord to render it us eless.
Before using for the first time Read the “ W arning and Safe ty in- struction s” before using f or the f irst time. Thoroughly clean the ce ramic cooktop before using for t he first time, and th en regularly after each use (s ee “Cleaning and care”).
Cooktop cont rols All cooking areas are controlled by vari- able control knobs. By using these con- trol knobs, tempe ratures can be f reely selected. The controls can be tur ned either cloc k- wise or cou nter clockwise. The indicator lamp fo r each cooking area lights as soon as th e respective control knob is tur ned to a sett ing.

Description of cooking areas Cooking areas - d iameter The cooking areas are clearly marked on the c ooktop unit. Only the area which has bee n tur ned on will be heated. The rest of the c ooktop sur face will remain relatively cool. Residual heat indicator Each cooki ng ar ea has a r esidual heat indicator .
Operation Saucepans The followin g notes are designe d to en- able you to . . . make the best use of energy w hen using your ceramic co oktop. . . . prevent food from boiling over and burning on to the ceramic cook top. Pots and pans ar e available which have been specially tes ted for u se on glass ceramic cook tops.
Operation Note: Do not use any pots or pans on the ceramic cooktops having bases with pronounced edges or ridges. These could per manently scra tch the cookto p surfa ce. Place a saucepan o n the cooking area before turning on the appliance to save energy .
Cleaning and care Ceramic cooktop Generally y ou can use the same clean- ing agents for the ce ramic cooktop as you would for or di nary glass surfaces. Never use scourin g agents or pads, or strong cleaners such as oven sprays or stai n remo vers, as these could ha rm the surface.
Cleaning and care Some cleaners incorpor ate a silicone agent which acts as a protective film for the ceramic cooktop. It makes the co oktop sur face s moother and prevents water and food from ad- hering to the su rfac e. Cooking a t high te mperatures reduces this effect an d the cleaner may need to be reapplied.
Correcting minor faults Repairs to e lectrical appliance s should only be carried out by a trained perso n. Unautho rized re- pairs can be dangerous. Some minor problems, however , can be r emedied as fol lows: What t o do if . . . . . . a humming soun d is heard while the ceramic cook top is heating u p? This is not a fault .
