W arning and Safety instructions 10 Correct use Never use a naked flame beneath the cooker hood. T o avoid the danger of fire, do not flambé or grill over a nak ed flame. When switched on, the cooker hood could dr aw flames into the filter . F at deposits could ignite, presenting a fir e hazard.
W arning and Safety instructions 11 Do not use the cooker hood without the filters in place. This way you will avoid the risk of grease and dirt getting int o the appliance and hindering its smooth oper ation. The filters should be r egularly cleaned or changed as appropriate.

Modes of operation 16 Depending on the model of the cooker hood, the following options are available: Extraction mode The air is drawn in and cleaned by the grease filt ers and directed outside. Non-return flap The non-return flap is designed t o prevent the e xchange of r oom and outside air taking place.
Operation 17 Switching the fan on Pr ess the On/Off control . The fan will switch on at level 2 . The symbol and 2 will light up in the power level display . Selecting the power level F or light to heavy cooking vapours and odours, select from power levels 1 t o 3 .

Energy saving tips 19 This cooker hood oper ates very efficiently and economically . The following will help you to save even more ener gy when using it: – Ensure that ther e is sufficient ventilation in the kitchen when cooking.
Cleaning and care 20 Casing General information The surfaces and controls ar e susceptible to scr atches and abrasion. Please observe the following cleaning instructions. All ext ernal surfaces and controls can be cleaned using hot water with a small amount of washing-up liquid applied with a well wrung-out soft sponge or cloth.
Cleaning and care 21 Important for the controls Do not leave soiling on the controls for any length of time. Otherwise they may suffer discolouration or damage. Remove soiling straight away . Please observe the general not es on cleaning earlier in this section.
Cleaning and care 22 Cleaning the grease filters by hand Clean the filters with a soft nylon brush in a mild solution of hot water and a small amount of washing-up liquid. Do not use "neat" washing up liquid. Unsuitable cleaning agents Unsuitable cleaning agents can cause damage to the surface of the filters if used regularly .
Cleaning and care 23 Charcoal filter If the cooker hood is connected for recir culation, a charcoal filter must be inserted in addition to the gr ease filters. This is designed to absorb cooking odours and is fitted in the canopy above the grease filt ers.
Cleaning and care 24 Changing a halogen lamp Note that halogen lamps become very hot when in use. They can cause burns even after being switched off for some time! Allow them to cool down for a few minutes befor e changing them.

Installation 30 Installation recommendations – When deciding on the safety distance between the hob and cooker hood, please note that a distance of 650 mm above electric cookers/hobs may be prefer a ble to give more working space under the hood. – Account should also be taken of the height of the person who will be using the hood most often.
Connection for air e xtraction 31 If this cooker hood is used at the same time as a heating appliance that relies on o xygen from the same room ther e is a risk in certain circumstances of t oxic fumes building up. It is essential that the "Warning and Safety" instructions are observed.
Connection for air e xtraction 32 Condensate trap In addition to insulating the e xhaust ducting, we recommend that a suitable condensate tr ap is also installed to collect and evaporat e any condensate which may occur . Condensate tr aps for 125 mm or 150 mm ducting are available as optional accessories.
Connection for air e xtraction 33 Recirculation mode The silencer needs to be positioned between the exhaust socket and the directional unit . Ensur e there is adequate space for fitting it.
Electrical connection 34 All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with curr ent national and local safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). Installation, repairs and other work by unqualified persons could be dangerous, for which the manufacturer cannot be held liable.
