Plug the full-size U SB connec tor on the other end of the cord into the power supply, and plug the power supply into an el ectrical outlet.

© 2015 Microsoft Page 8 Connect to a wi red network 1. Plug a USB to Ethern et adapter (sold sep arately) into the U SB port on your Surface. 2. Plug an Ethernet c able into the adapter, and plug the other end of the cable into your router or an Ethernet network port.
© 2015 Microsoft Page 9 First, though, think a bout whether any new acc ount you create will be a local account that works only on this one Surface, or a Microso ft account (an email address and pass word that you use to sign in to Window s). A Microsoft account provides the best experience.

© 2015 Microsoft Page 11 To set an account type: 1. Sign in wit h an administrator acc ount. 2. Go to Start , and select PC settings > Accounts > Other accounts , and sel ect the account you want to change. 3. Select Edit , and under Account type , choose the account type, and select OK .
© 2015 Microsoft Page 12 Open an app Select a tile on Start to open t he app. If you don’t see the app you w ant, selec t Search , enter the name of the app, and select it from the l ist. To see a full list of the apps on you r Surface, swipe up on the Start screen to get to Apps vi ew .

© 2015 Microsoft Page 15 Surface Pen features Top button Click the top butt on to open OneNote. Double-cli ck to capture a screenshot. Blu etooth technology l inks the top button of y our Surface Pen to your Surface 3 . Right-click butto n This button acts like the right-cli ck button on a mouse.

Then, sel ect what you want to capture i n the sc reenshot by dragging the tip of the pen from one corner of your selecti on to the opposi te corner. When you lift t he pen tip, your selec tion appears in a new pag e in OneNote.

© 2015 Microsoft Page 19 Touchpad The touchpad on Sur face 3 Type Cover has right-click and l eft-click buttons that work like a mouse. The le ft-click button are a is larger, while t he right-clic k button is smaller. The touchpad supports g estures like tap, double-tap, drag, sc roll, and zoom.
© 2015 Microsoft Page 20 Storage You have many st orage options with Surface 3. I n addition to the storage on t he hard drive, you have external stor age options like OneDrive (clou d storage), USB drives, and microSD cards.
© 2015 Microsoft Page 21 Save files from any desktop app to a OneDrive folder b y navigati ng to it when you save. When you open or s ave files from a Windows Store app , you can choose OneDrive or This PC as the loc ation. Select the dow n arrow to choose your location.

They won’t need to install any spec ial programs or sign up for a new account, and they c an use any web browser to get to the files y ou share wit h them.
