1 I NTRODUCTION The Fusion is a hand-held, om nidirectional bar code scanner with optional single-line scanning capab ilities. It utilizes the powerful Metrologic QuantumE scan engine to provide an out standing scan performance o n all standard 1D barcode symbologies, includi ng RSS.

6 Introduction Maintenance Smudges and dirt can interfere with the prop er scanning of a bar code. Therefore, the output windo w wi ll need occasional cleani ng. 1. Spray glass cleaner onto a lint free, non-abrasive cleaning cloth. 2. Gently wipe the scanner window.
7 I NSTALLATION RS232 or Light Pen 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the male 10-pin RJ45 end of the PowerLink cable into the 10-pin socket on the MS3780. 3. Connect the 9-pin female end of the PowerLink cable to the approp riate communication port on the host device.
8 I NSTALLATION IBM 46xx or OCIA 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the male 10-pin RJ45 end of the MVC cable into the 10-pin socket on the MS3780. 3. For IBM: Connect the other end of the MVC cable to Port 9 of the host device. For OCIA: Connect the other end of the MVC cable to the appropriate communication port on the host device.
9 I NSTALLATION Keyboard Wedge 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the male 10-pin RJ45 end of the PowerLink cable into the 10-pin socket on the MS3780. 3. Disconnect the keyboard from the host device. 4. Connect the “Y” end of the PowerLink cable to the keyboar d and the keyboard port on the host PC.
10 I NSTALLATION Stand-Alone Keyboard 1. Turn off the host device. 2. Plug the male 10-pin RJ45 end of the PowerLink cable into the 10-pin socket on the MS3780. 3. Connect the other end of the PowerLink cable to the keyboard port on the host device. 4.

12 I NSTALLATION EAS Deactivation EAS D EACTIVATION SW1 and SW2 are the switch banks inside th e CheckPoint Device that set the deactivation range. The follo wing is a list of CheckPoint recommended s witch bank settings.
13 S CANNER O PERATION The Scan Pattern Mode Select Button There are two configurable sc an pattern modes availab le with the MS3780. • The primary scan pattern mode is the default scan pattern active when the scanner starts. By default, the primar y scan pattern is se t to all-scan-lines for omnidirectional reading.
14 S CANNER O PERATION How to Use CodeGate and the Manual Activation Mode For illustration purposes the unit’s scan pattern has been se t to single-line (menu rea ding) mode . C ODE G ATE M ANUAL A CTIVATION M ODE * * This feature is not a default setting.
15 S CANNER O PERATION Audible Indicators When the MS3780 is in operation, it can prov ide audible feedback. T hese sounds indicate the status of the scanner. Eight settings are avai lable for the tone of the beep (normal, 6 alternate to nes and no tone).
16 S CANNER O PERATION Visual Indicators There are four LEDs located on the t op of the MS3780. When the sca nner is on, the flashing or constant il luminatio n of the LEDs indi cates the status of the current scan and the scanner.
17 S CANNER O PERATION Failure Mode Indicators Both Blue LEDs Flashing with One Emitted Razzberry Tone This indicates that the scanner has experien ced a laser subsystem failure.
