15 Gettin g star te d Insert batter y T o inser t the batter y you must open the displa y flap and remov e the batter y cov er. • Open the display flap. • Slide the batter y compar tment shutter as shown and insert the batter y . • Replace the batter y compar tment cov er as shown t o close the batter y compar tment.
16 Insert SD memor y car d • T o inser t an SD memor y card you must open the SD compar t- ment cov er . • T ake an SD memory card and slide this into the SD card slot which is behind the macro switch on the camcorder . Close the SD compar tment cov er .
17 Char ging the batt er y T o charge the batter y , connect the camcorder batter y to the supplied charging cradle. Plug the mains adapter int o a 230 V ~ 50 Hz socke t and inser t the batter y . When the batter y is fully charged the green LED will come on.
18 Swit ching the c amcorder on and of f T o activate the camcor der , open the display panel as shown be- low . T urn the display panel so that you can easily see the 3.
19 The settin gs menu T o open the settings menu, press the mode selection button twice. In the settings menu there are eight further sub-menus represent- ed by appropriat e symbols.
20 Oper ating the settin gs menu T o change the individual settings you can either use the Up/Do wn buttons or change the settings directly using a finger . T ones Here you can turn the camcorder’s oper ating tones On or Of f T o turn of f the camcorder’s operating tones press the UP / DOWN buttons until is highlighted.
21 Auto Power Off Here you can se t the energy sa ving mode. The camcorder can be set to switch off af ter either a period of 1 minute or 5 minutes. Press the UP / DOWN buttons until the desired se tting is high- lighted and press OK . T o turn of f the camcorder’s energy saving mode pr ess the UP / DOWN buttons until is highlighted.
22 Formatting Here you can f ormat the inser ted memor y card or the internal memor y if no memor y card has been inser ted. Press the UP / DOWN buttons until the desired se tting is high- lighted and press OK . A TTENTION! Loss of data possible. If you f ormat the memor y all of the data stor ed there will be deleted.
23 Langua ge Here you can se t the camcorder’s menu language. Press the UP / DOWN buttons until the desired se tting is high- lighted and press OK . TV frequency Here you can se t the camcorder’s frame fr equency . Press the UP / DOWN buttons until the desired se tting is high- lighted and press OK .
24 Recordin g videos Proceed as follo ws in or der to record videos: Lif t the LC displa y f lap. Choose the desired picture detail. Press the shutter -release button Using the UP / DOWN buttons, will set the digital zoom. NOTE! The digital zoom can only be used with a resolution of max.
25 Video r ecordin g display While recording a video, the camcorder will sho w you all of the im- por tant information on the LC displa y . The follo wing symbols may be displa yed when recording a video.
26 Video mode menu In the “video mode” menu you can select se ttings to operate the camcorder . Y ou can select the following se ttings: • White balance • Resolution • Ef fect • Night mode • Quality T o select a menu, press the UP / DOWN buttons until the re- quired menu is highlighted and then press the OK button.
27 Resolution The follo wing settings are a vailable for video quality: Setting Resolution 1 080P 1 920 x 1 080 720P 1 280 x 720 WVGA 848 x 480 QVGA 320 x 2 40 The selected resolution will remain activ e until you select a dif fer- ent one. 29 Video pla yback There are different options for vie wing the video recordings sa ved in the internal memor y or on the optional memor y card. Press the Pla yback button in the pre viously selected mode (vid- eo or photo) t o activate the video pla yback menu.

33 Volume Using this function you can set the pla yback volume of the record- ed videos. Select the desired volume b y directly touching the screen with your finger or by pressing the UP / DOWN buttons and then confirm the selection by pressing OK .
34 Shootin g photos Proceed as follo ws in or der to shoot pho tos: Lif t the LC displa y f lap. Select photo mode b y pressing the Mode selection button. Select the desired picture detail. T o change the exposure value touch the / buttons.

45 Connec ting c amcorder to T V set T o view phot os and videos on a television set, proceed as f ollow s: Connect the USB/A V cable to the USB por t of the camcorder . Connect the white and yello w plugs of the USB/A V cable to the corresponding socke ts on the television se t.
46 Connec ting c amcorder to comput er Y ou can copy your pictur es and videos to a computer . Connect the mini USB plug of the USB/ A V cable to the camcorder and connect the other end of the cable to a free USB por t on your computer .
47 Installin g the softw are The enclosed CD contains the driver files and the ArcSof t T otal Me- dia sof tware, which allo ws y ou to edit your pictur es and video files. Inser t the CD in the CD drive of your comput er . Normally , the CD is automatically recognised and its contents are displa yed on the screen.
48 DCF memor y standar d The files on your camcorder are managed (sa ved, named, e tc.) as specified by the DCF standard (DCF = Design Rule for Camera F ile System). Y ou can also use y our camcorder to vie w f iles stored on memor y cards from other DCF cameras.

60 Preview a rea The previe w area has various options for selecting and displa ying miniature file images and more detailed information for selection.
