4 Features The DLW (Dual Link / W aveform) Series is the latest addition to Mars hall's expandin g line of IM D-equipped monitors. ■ 1920 x 1200 Full Re solution 17” Panel The V-R171X-DLW features an all-digital T FT-MegaPix el active matrix LCD system with 1920x1200 nat ive res olution.
5 Installation and Initial Setup ■ Unpack ing Carefully unpac k the V-R171X-DLW monitor and v erify that the followin g items are included: • V-R171X-DLW Monit or • V-PS12-5V-1 Power Supp ly with Twist-Lock Connector • Operat ing Instru ctions Inspect t he unit f or any physical dama ge that ma y have occ urred during shipping.
6 Front Panel Features Power Button Turn t he monitor off or on by pressing t he power button. The LED on t he power button is at maximum illumina tion when the unit is OFF. The LED is at m inimum illumina tion when t he unit is on. Input Channel Buttons Pressing SDI 1 or SDI 2 will select HDSDI-SDI Video Inputs 1 or 2, respect ively.
7 Rear Panel Features RS-422/485 Serial Inter face The RS-422/48 5 ports are used t o remotely contr ol the IMD or all V-R171X-DL W features, using a v ariety of industry standard prot ocols. (Note: Connector/pi n-out may n eed to be adapte d depending on protocol and controll ing device used.

9 DLW Monitor Layouts The V-R171X-D LW has 4 possible la youts, Multi mode, Vectorscope mode, Wa veform mode a nd Full Scree n Video mode. Each press of the L AYOUT Button will change the c urrent m ode to next a vailable m ode.

12 On-Screen Men u (continued) M A IN MENU A ND N A VIG A TION Access and navigate the main menu using the RotoMenu™ knob: Using the RotoMenu kn ob • Press the RotoMenu™ kn ob to enter the main menu. • Rotate t he knob to s croll up or down in the main menu or each submenu.
13 ■ 16:9 Markers Use t his setting to s uperimpose one of 10 mar kers on the screen when in 16:9 or Full Screen mode. T his setting is disabled when the as pect ratio is s et to 4:3, or when Pixel-t o-Pixel mode is enable d. Note that in Full Screen mode, markers a re vertically st retched along w ith the picture to f it the 16:10 screen.
14 ■ Marker Background Use t his setting to c hoose how selected m arkers are displayed on t he screen: • Off The marker is superimpose d on t he complete image. • 50% Gra y Screen area be yond t he marker is s hown at 50% i ntensity. • Black Screen area be yond t he marker is shown as black.
15 ■ Monochrome Mode Use t his setting to enable monochrome mo de. On ly the luminance o f the image will be d isplayed as a grayscale picture. ■ Blue-Only M ode Use t his setting to enable Blue-Onl y mode. T his mode displays onl y th e blue co lor c omponent of the image, switching off the red and green comp onents.
16 • In Full Screen (16:10) mod e, images are scaled t o fill the entire 16:10 screen (1920 x 1200). In this mode, all OSD f eatures are super imposed on t he image. Note that when usi ng a 16:9 i nput image i n this mode, t he image will be verti cally stretched b y approximatel y 10%.

18 ■ Use r-Definabl e Function Buttons Use t he Function 1 , Fu nction 2 , Function 3 and Functi on 4 menu items t o define each f unction button on the front panel of t he monitor.
19 OSD Config Subm enu Use t he OSD Conf iguration submenu to select a variety of info rmation to be displayed on the screen. ■ IMD State Use t his setting to t urn the IMD text displa y on or of f. This setting affects bot h fixed string I MD text and remote IMD text commands.
20 ■ OSD Ta ll y Use t his setting to c hoose how tally is dis played on t he screen. T he available OSD Tally options depend o n the Tally Source select ed in the I MD Conf iguration submenu W hen .
21 Use t his setting to enable time c ode display on t he screen. T ime code is de-embedded fr om the v ertical ancillary data (VANC) within t he HD /SDI signal. Two types of t ime code can be selected to display on the screen: LTC (linear ti me code) or VITC (vertical interval tim e code) .
22 IMD Config Subm enu ■ Overview The V-R171X-DLW features an In-Monitor Display (IMD) with t he ability to display on-screen t ext and t ally in t hree colors. I MD text, color, and alignment can be ass igned to eac h screen locally using menu options (see belo w).
23 MEI Use t he MEI protocol setting when controlling t he V-R171X-DLW using the Marshall Network C ontroller box . This protocol allows remote c ontrol of all f eatures on the V-R171X-DLW , including mark er setup, video configurat ion, system conf iguration, and image adjustm ents (br ightness, contrast, etc.
24 Press RotoMenu™ knob to e dit the IMD Name. R otate the RotoMenu™ k nob t o move the c ursor. Press t he RotoMenu™ knob with the cu rsor on t he character to be changed, t hen rotate t he knob to scr oll through the character set . P ress the Rot oMenu™ knob to choose a character.

26 Wave/Vector Subme nu Use t he Wave/Vector s ubmenu to c hange the locat ion of the W aveform Monit or and Vect orscope, as well as the data displayed on the W aveform monitor or the Vect orscope on the V-R 171X-DLW monitor.

31 Specificatio ns (continued) Maintenance ■ Screen Cleaning Periodically clea n the s creen surface using ammonia-f ree cleaning wipes (Mars hall Part No. V-HWP- K ). A clean micro- fiber c loth can also be used using only non-abrasive an d ammonia-f ree cleaning agents.
32 Burn-In Warning This monitor uses a high quality TFT LC D panel. Howeve r, if a stat ic image is left on the screen f or 48 hours, t here may be a 30 second to 10 minute recovery peri od for t he panel. During rec overy, a very faint image may be retained on the display.
