7 ADDITIONAL SAFETY R ULES FOR CHARGER & B A TTER Y CARTRIDGE 1. Do not charge Battery Cartridge when temperature is BELO W 10°C (50°F) or ABO VE 40°C (104°F). 2. Do not attempt to use a step-up trans- former , an engine g enerator or DC power receptacle.
8 INST ALLA TION Bench mounting When the tool is shipped, the handle is lock ed in the lowered position by the stopper pin. Release the stopper pin b y lower- ing the handle slightly and pulling the stopper pin. This tool should be bolted with two bolts to a le vel and stab le surf ace using the bolt holes provided in the tool ’ s base.
9 Charging 1. Plug the batter y charger into the proper A C voltage source. T wo charging lights will flash in green color repeatedly . 2. Inser t the batter y car tr idge into charger until it stops adjusting to the guide of charger . T er minal cover of charger can be opened with inser ting and closed with pulling out the battery car tridge.
10 • If the charging light flashes alternately in green and red color , charging is not possible . The ter minals on the charger or batter y car tridge are clogged with dust or the batter y car tr idge is worn out or damaged.
11 T rickle char ge (Maintenance charge) If you lea ve the battery car tr idge in the charger to prev ent spontaneous discharging after full charge, the charger will s witch into its “ tr ickle charge (maintenance charge) ” mode and keep the battery car tr idge fresh and fully charged.
12 If the blade guard is especially dirty and vision through the guard is impaired, use the supplied sock et wrench to loosen the he x bolt holding the center cover . Loosen the hex bolt b y turning it counterclockwise and raise the blade guard and center cov er .
13 Maintaining maximum cutting capacity This tool is fa ctor y adjusted to provide the maximum cutting capacity f or a 190 mm (7 - 1/2 ” ) saw blade . When installing a new b lade, alwa ys check the lo wer limit position of the blade and if necessary , adjust it as f ollows: First, remov e the batter y car tr idge.
14 Adjusting the miter angle Loosen the grip by turning counterclockwise. T ur n the turn base while pressing down the loc k lev er . When you hav e mov ed the grip to the position where the pointer points to the desired angle on the miter scale, securely tighten the grip clockwise .
15 • Do not pull the s witch tr igger hard without pressing in the lock-off b utton. This can cause switch breakage . T o prev ent the switch trigger from being accidentally pulled, a lock-off b utton is provided. T o star t the tool, press in the loc k- off button and pull the s witch trigger .
16 ASSEMBL Y CA UTION: • Alwa ys be sure that the tool is switched off and the batter y car tr idge is remov ed before carrying out any work on the tool. Socket wrenc h storage The sock et wrench is stored as shown in the figure. When using the sock et wrench, pull it out of the wrench holder .
17 T o remove the b lade, use the sock et wrench to loosen the he x bolt holding the center cover b y tur ning it counterclock- wise. Raise the b lade guard and center cover . Press the shaft lock to loc k the spindle and use the socket wrench to loosen the he x bolt clockwise.
18 Return the blade guard and center cov er to its or iginal posi- tion. Then tighten the he x bolt clockwise to secure the center cov er . Release the handle from the raised position by pulling the stopper pin. Lower the handle to mak e sure that the blade guard mo ves properly .
19 CA UTION: • When cutting long workpieces, use suppor ts that are as high as the top surf ace lev el of the tur n base. Do not rely solely on the vertical vise and/or hor izontal vise to secure the workpiece. Thin material tends to sag. Suppor t wor kpiece ov er its entire length to av oid blade pinch and possib le KICKBA CK.
20 Horizontal vise (optional accessory) The horizontal vise can be installed on the left side of the base. By turning the vise knob counterclockwise, the scre w is released and the vise shaft can be mov ed rapidly in and out. By turning the vise knob clockwise, the scre w remains secured.
21 OPERA TION CA UTION: • Bef ore use, be sure to release the handle from the lowered position b y pulling the stopper pin. • Make sure the b lade is not contacting the workpiece, etc. bef ore the switch is turned on. • Do not apply e xcessive pressure on the handle when cutting.
22 2. Slide (push) cutting (cutting wide workpieces) Loosen the clamp screw on the turn base counterclock- wise so that the carriage can slide freely . Secure the workpiece with the vise. Pull the carriage tow ard you fully . Switch on the tool without the b lade making any contact and wait until the b lade attains full speed.

Cutting repetitive lengths When cutting se veral pieces of stoc k to the same length, ranging from 220 mm (8 - 5/8 ” ) to 385 mm (15 - 1/8 ” ), use of the set plate (optional accessor y) will f acilitate more efficient operation. Install the set plate on the holder (optional accessor y) as shown in the figure.
29 Carr y the tool by carrying grip as shown in the figure. If y ou remov e the holders, dust bag, etc., you can carry the tool more easily . CA UTION: • Alwa ys secure all moving por tions before carrying the tool. • Stopper pin is f or carr ying and storage pur poses only and not f or any cutting operations.
30 Make sure that the pointer points to 0 ° on the miter scale. If the pointer does not point to 0 ° , loosen the screw which secures the pointer and adjust the pointer so that it will point to 0 ° . 2. 31 (2) 45 ° be vel angle Adjust the 45 ° be vel angle only after perf or ming 0 ° be vel angle adjustment. T o adjust left 45 ° bev el angle, loosen the le ver and tilt the b lade to the left fully . Mak e sure that the pointer on the ar m points to 45 ° on the be vel scale on the arm holder .
