7 - Cleaning Only clean your DVD recorder with a damp, soft, clean cloth (with no aggressive cleaning agents). If DVD recorder fails to r ead the disc correctly , the reader unit in the device may be soiled. Use a commercially-available cleaning disc.
- 8 Writable Discs DVD-RW (Digital Video Disk - ReWritable) These discs can be written to several times. Recordings can be deleted and the disc can then be rewritten. DVD-R (Digital Video Disk - Recordable) These discs can be written to only once. Following fi nalisation a DVD-R disc can no longer be written to or edited.
9 - Disc-r elated T erms Title (DVD only) A title is the main fi lm content or the content of the accompanying feature or the music album. Each title has a title number enabling you to locate it easily . Chapter (DVD only) Chapters are sections of a fi lm or a piece of music that are smaller than a title.
- 10 What are “Recor ding Modes“? This recorder offers two r ecording modes: VR mode and Video mode. Recordings on DVD-R discs are always in Video mode. Recordings on DVD-RW discs can be in either VR or Video mode. DVD-R and D VD-RW Discs VR Mode Recording 4 possible picture quality/recor ding time settings (EQ, LQ, SQ, HQ), see page 24.
11 - If the disc format is Video Recording format, the recording mode for the disc is r eferred to as „VR mode“. However , the recor ding mode of a Video format disc is referred to as „Video mode“ (Excep- tion: a prerecor ded DVD-Video disc which is not recordable has no r ecording mode).

15 - Connecting to an External Decoder Box If you use an external decoder box for your satellite or cable TV system, follow the connection proce- dure described below . Connect your aerial socket in the wall to the aerial input socket on your Set T op Box / satellite receiver using an aerial cable.

27 - Disc Protection When recording onto a DVD+RW/+R disc in DVD+RW disc mode protection should be switched to “On“ to avoid inadvertant recor ding, changing or deleting of the disc.

33 - Camera positions 1/ 3 DVD If the DVD contains scenes that have been captured using different camer a positions, you can switch to a different camera position during playback. Press during playback and then press / repeatedly to select the camera angle you require.
- 34 Storing the last disc settings DVD Video VR The recorder saves the user settings for the last disc that you have watched. The settings are saved until you remove the disc from the r ecorder or switch it off . If you insert a disc that has already been played back, playback will continue from the last stopping point.
35 - Playing audio CDs or MP3 discs CD MP3 The DVD recorder can be used to play audio CDs. Recordings made in the MP3 format can also be played back on CD-ROM, CD-R or CD-RW discs (before playing MP3 recor dings, read the advice on MP3 recordings on page 36).

53 - Original Lists and Playlists VR If you edit the original lists (for titles and chapters) you change the content of the disc. - 58 Deleting a Disc and Starting New Recording Video VR RW discs have the simple option of deleting every- thing on the disc and automatically starting a new recording at the touch of a button. The disc format remains unchanged. Switch the recor der on and insert a writable disc.
