Computer networks hav e pr oved to be one of the fast est modes of communicati on but until re cently , only lar ge busine sses could af ford the networking advantage.
5 C RE A T I N G YOUR N ETWORK Dual Speed Sw i tch 5 — Fr o nt Power LED If the is lit ( ) the power supply to the Switch is present. Power LED green , Duplex LED ’ s If the Duplex LED is lit (yellow), the port is in full duplex mode. If the LED is off, the port is in half duplex mode.

8 How the Sw it ch Can Be Use d Swit chin g When a net work of r epeater hubs is in opera tion, any information tha t is se nt by the works tations is passed ar ound the w hole network (r egar dles s of the destinat ion of the in formation). This can r es ult in a lot of unneces sary traff ic t hat can s low the net work down.
9 Connect ing 10BASE-T an d 100BASE-TX Networks The 10/100 por ts can each be c onnected t o either a 10BASE-T or 100BASE- TX network. I f you have both types of network , y ou can j oin them together using the Sw itch allowing a ll your workstations to communicate.

15 P RO B L E M S OLVING The Switc h has been des igned to aid you when detectin g and solv ing possible problems with you r network. The s e pr oblems ar e rarely serious ; the c ause is us ually a disconnected or damaged c able, or inc or rec t configurat ion.
