Inserting a microSD car d Gently unco ver the microSD slot located on the lef t side of the phone. P osition the microSD card f acing up and slide it into place until it is fully inserted and loc ked in place. NO TE The microSD card can be easily damaged b y improper operation.

T o turn the phone sounds off If y ou're in a place where your phone sounds ma y dist urb others, y ou can quic kly silence your phone from the L oc k Screen. 1 . Press the Power/Lock Key . 2. Drag the Sounds off icon to the lef t. T o t urn the phone sounds bac k on, drag the Sounds on icon to the lef t.

Swype A dvanced Settings S w ype A dv anced Set tings pro vide access to S w ype adv anced operation set tings. Auto-spacing allo ws you to automatically insert a space between w ords. When you finish a w ord, just lif t your finger or stylus and st art the ne xt w ord.
40 Using the Andr oid k eyboar d Y ou enter text using the onscreen k e yboard. Some applications open the k eyboard automatically . In others, y ou touc h a text field where y ou want to enter te xt to open the k e yboard. Y ou can also enter text b y speaking instead of b y t yping.

Ent ering t ext by speaking Y ou can use voice input to enter te xt b y speaking . V oice input is an e xperiment al f eature that uses Google ’ s speec h-recognition ser vice, so y ou must hav e a data connection on a mobile or Wi-Fi net w ork to use it.
E diting t ext Y ou can edit the text y ou enter in te xt fields and use menu commands to cut, cop y , and paste text, within or across applications. Some applications don ’ t support editing some or all of the te xt they displa y; others ma y of f er their o wn w a y to select te xt y ou want to w ork with.
T o cut or copy text 1 . Select the text to cut or cop y . 2. T ouc h and hold the text field, then touc h Cut or Copy in the menu that opens. If y ou touc h Cut, the selected text is remo v ed from the te xt field. In either case, the te xt is temporarily stored in the phone memor y so that you can paste it into another te xt field.
Applications: Ho w to View , Open and Swit ch All of the applications on y our phone, including any applications that y ou downloaded and installed from Android Mark et TM or other sources, are grouped together on one Launc h screen that you access from y our Home screen.
46 Opening and Closing the L aunch screen Opening the Launch scr een W ith y our LG V ortex, it's easy to access the Launc h screen no mat ter what f eat ure y ou're currently using. Simply press the Home Key , then touc h the Applications Launcher Key .

49 The Basics T ouc h to open more menu items. Options menus contain items that apply to the current screen or to the application as a whole. W orking with Menus T here are t w o kinds of Android menus: Options menus and Conte xt menus.
Cont ext menus Conte xt menus cont ain options that apply to a specific item on the screen. T o open a Context menu, touc h and hold an item on the screen. Not all items ha ve Conte xt menus. If y ou touc h and hold an item that has no Conte xt menu, nothing will happen.

52 T o clear all notifications 1 . Open the Notifications panel. 2. T ouc h the Clear but ton at the top right of the panel. All e vent-based notifications will be cleared; ongoing notifications will remain in the list.

59 Connecting t o Mobile Networks When y ou buy y our phone and sign up f or ser vice, y our phone is configured to use y our provider's mobile networks f or v oice calls and f or transmit ting dat a. Dif f erent locations ma y ha v e dif f erent mobile net w orks a v ailable.
60 3. T ouc h Data roaming to remov e the c hec kmark from the box. W ith Data roaming unc hec k ed, y ou can still transmit data with a W i-Fi connection. T o limit y our data connection t o 2G net w orks Y ou can extend y our bat ter y lif e b y limiting y our dat a connections to 2G net w orks.
61 When y ou connect to a W i-Fi net w ork, the phone obtains a net w ork address and other inf ormation it needs from the net w ork, using the DHCP protocol. T o configure the phone with a st atic IP address and other adv anced set tings, from Wi-Fi settings press the Menu Key and touc h Advanced .
62 T o receiv e notifications when open net work s are in range By def ault, when W i-Fi is on, y ou receive notifications in the St at us bar when y our phone detects an open W i-Fi network. 1 . T urn on W i-Fi, if it's not already on. 2. F rom the W i-Fi set tings screen, touc h Network notification to c hec kmark the box.
63 T o f or get a Wi-Fi network Y ou can make the phone f orget about the det ails of a W i-Fi net w ork that y ou added. F or example, if y ou don't w ant the phone to connect to it automatically or if it is a net w ork that y ou no longer use. 1 .

E nable DUN While tra v eling , y ou can use y our phone as a modem f or your notebook. Use the Modem Link program to use y our phone as a USB or Bluetooth modem. Bef or e you proceed © T o connect y our de vice to a computer via USB , you must first inst all the LG USB driv er on the computer .
Sharing y our phone’ s mobile data connection Y ou can share your phone ’ s dat a connection with up to eight de vices at once, by t urning your phone into a portable W i-Fi hotspot. When y our phone is sharing its dat a connection, an icon appears in the St at us bar and as an ongoing notification in the Notifications panel.

75 Connecting t o Bluet oo th Devices Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications tec hnology that de vices can use to ex c hange inf ormation o v er a dist ance of about 30 f eet.
76 T o change y our phone’ s Bluet ooth name Y our phone has a generic Bluetooth name by def ault, whic h is visible to other de vices when you set the phone as 'Disco v erable'. Y ou can c hange the name to customiz e it to y our pref erence.
77 ● If y ou're prompted to enter a passcode, tr y entering 0 00 0 or 1 234 (the most common passcodes), or consult the document ation that came with the target device to find its passco d e . ● Once the pairing is successful, y our phone will connect to the de vice.
78 T o disconnect fr om a Bluet ooth device 1 . T ouc h the device in the Bluetooth settings screen. 2. T ouc h OK to confirm that y ou want to disconnect. T o unpair a Bluetoo th device Y ou can unpair a Bluetooth device and erase all pairing inf ormation about it.
79 5. In the screen that opens, f ollow the instr uctions from your net w ork administrator to configure eac h component of the VPN set tings. 6. P ress the Menu Key and touc h Save . T he VPN will be added to the list on the VPN set tings screen. T o connect to a VPN 1 .
80 W orking With Secur e Certificat es If y our organization's VPN or Wi-Fi net w ork relies on secure certificates, y ou must obt ain the certificates and store them in y our phone's secure credential storage bef ore you can configure access to that VPN or W i-Fi net w ork on y our phone.

Inserting the microSD Card 1 . Gently uncov er the microSD slot located on the lef t side of the de vice. 2. P osition the microSD card with the label side facing up and slide it into place until it is fully inserted and loc ked in place. NO TE Be sure to use only recommended microSD cards (up to 32GB).
W rite Protection T he microSD adapter has a built-in W rite P rotection loc k to prev ent accident al o v er writing or remo val of y our data when the microSD card and adapter are inserted in another de vice. © Slide the W rite P rotection loc k t ab do wn into the “L oc k” position to pre vent o v er writing of dat a.
● Once completely f ormat ted, the card is automatically re- mounted (reconnected f or use by the de vice). NO TE The f ormat ting procedure erases all the dat a on the microSD card, af ter whic h the files CANNO T be retriev ed. T o pre v ent the loss of import ant data, please c hec k the contents bef ore y ou format the card.
T o remove the connection: W ARNING! Carefully follo w y our computer's instructions to unmount, remo v e, or disconnect any remo v able USB devices or disks, to a v oid losing information on the microSD card when disconnecting your phone from y our computer .
86 Placing and Receiving Calls Placing and Ending Calls Y ou can place calls using the Phone application on any of the f our t abs across the top of the screen. Y ou can dial calls manually using the Phone tab. Y ou can dial using your phone's memor y , using the Call log t ab; the Contacts t ab; or the Favorites t ab.
87 ● Y ou can use other phone f eat ures while the call is under wa y . If y ou open another application, the Call icon appears in the St at us bar f or the duration of the call.
88 Placing and Receiving Calls Answ ering or R ejecting Calls When y ou receive a phone call, the Incoming Call screen opens with the caller ID and an y additional information about the caller that y ou hav e sa v ed in the Contacts list. All incoming calls are recorded in the Call log .
89 T o decline a call and divert it to v oicemail © Drag the Decline Key to the lef t. T he caller is sent directly to y our voicemail bo x to lea v e a message. © T o silence the ringer , press the Down V olume Key . W orking with the Call L og T he Call log is a list of all the calls you’ ve placed, receiv ed, or missed.
90 T o dial a number in the Call log © F rom the Call log , touc h the Call Key at the right of the entr y . Y ou can also touc h and hold the entr y to open a menu with more options, to communicate with that cont act in other ways . T o add an entr y ’ s number to y our Contact s 1 .
91 Calling Y our Contact s Instead of manually dialing phone numbers using the dialpad, y ou can use y our Cont acts list to dial quic kly and easily . Y ou can also quic kly call a contact by using Quic k Contact. If y ou hav e contacts on the web, the y're sync hroniz ed with your phone when y ou first connect to your Google TM A ccount.
T he V oice Dialer application opens, listening f or y our spok en instr uctions, and displa ying some hints f or how to use it. 2. Sa y “Call” follo w ed b y the name of the cont act to call. Or f ollow one of the suggestions f or dialing a number or controlling y our phone in other wa y s.
T o turn the speakerphone on or off © T ouc h the Speaker Key . T he Speaker Key lights up to indicate that the speak erphone is on. The Speak er icon will appear in the St at us bar and the sound from y our call is play ed through the phone's speak er .

95 List ening t o Y our V oicemail When y ou hav e a ne w V oicemail message, you will receiv e a notification in the St at us bar . T o listen to your V oicemail messages, touc h V oicemail on the Home screen. If y ou ha v e not set up y our V oicemail number , or if y ou need to c hange it, you can do that with the Call set tings.
