- 1 - Intr oduction Congratulations on your purchase of APC’ s C5 Po wer Filter (Figure 1). This unit will protect your high performance audio and video (A V) system from damaging po wer surges, spik es and lightning. Protection is guaranteed. Isolated noise filter banks will eliminate EMI/RFI as a source of audio and video signal degradation.

- 3 - F eatures The follo wing are major features of the Model C5: Surge Pr otection The C5 Po wer Filter provides a high le vel of sur ge protection for the voltage going into the unit, thus protecting the de vices connected to the unit.
- 4 - T op Panel The follo wing section describes the controls and indicators on the top panel. T op P anel Controls and Indicators The top panel controls and indicators for the C5 Po wer Filter are detailed in Figure 2. Each numbered callout refers to the numbered description found immediately belo w the picture.
- 5 - Wiring OK Status Indicator When lit, the receptacle the C5 is plugged into is properly wired. If not lit, one of three wiring problems exists in the building wiring circuit: missing ground, o verloaded neutral, or re versed polarity . An electrician should be consulted to resolve the problem.
- 6 - Outlet Panel and Side P anel The follo wing section describes the functionality of the outlet and side panels. Outlet Panel The outlet panel for the C5 Po wer Filter is deteailed in Figure 3. Each numbered callout refers to the numbered description found in the fol- lo wing pages.
- 7 - A C-Po wered Outlets The C5 Po wer Filter provides for connection of up to ten (10) A C-powered de vices. The outlets are arranged according to the type of filtering protection provided for a gi ven applica- tion.
- 8 - Side Panel Contr ols and Indicators The side panel connectors for the C5 Po wer Filter are detailed in Figure 4. Each numbered callout refers to the numbered description found in the follo wing pages.
- 9 - Surge Pr otected CO AX/RF Connectors The C5 provides sur ge protection for your CA TV system, Cable Modem, DSS, or Antenna system. The sur ge protection feature pre vents sur ges trav eling ov er Coaxial data lines from damaging the system. Connect the coaxial cable from the CA TV or Cable Modem provider to the connector mark ed “IN.
