3 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Operatio n and Maintenance Commissioning W arning: APC authorized personne l must perform the following procedures. Electrical Hazard: Perform Lockout/T agout procedure s on the cooling unit before servicing the cooling un it.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 4 Electrical inspection checklist The electrical inspection verifies th at all electrical connections are secure and correct and that the cooling unit is properly grounded. Electrical Hazard: A ll electrical wiring must comply with local and national codes and regulations.
5 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Operatio n and Maintenance Mechanical inspection checklist The mechanical inspection verifie s that all mechanical compone nts an d connections are secure and tight and ready for start-up and system charging. The insp ection ensures that field piping is properly installed to promote oil return to the compressor .
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 6 User interface inspection chec klist The user interface inspection verifi es tha t the sensors and internal co mmunications links of the cooling unit are installed properly .
7 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Operatio n and Maintenance Charging With Refrigerant Calculating R410A charge Use the following table and formula wh en calculating the total R410A charge. Note: All refrigerant pipes must be straight ACR to have 39 bar (565 psig) or above MWP .

InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 10 Compressor Oil Charge Caution: This procedure is to be done by APC-trained personnel only . Y ou may need to ad d oil to air -cooled equipment, depending on the condenser size and the lengths of tube running between the equipment and the condenser .
11 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e 2. Prepare to add oil: a. Use a new , seale d oil can and a manual oil pu mp. The pump hose must be sized for 1/4 in flare fittings and must include a valve depressor at its end, which will open the valve on the Schrader service port of the compressor .
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 12 Operation Display Interface Item Function Critical Al arm LED (red) When lit, a critical alarm condition exists and requires immediate attention. W arning Alarm LED (yellow) When lit, a wa rning alarm condition exists.
13 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e Using the Display Interface Every time power is applied to th e cooling unit, the display interf ace initializes, caus ing the LEDs to cycle and the alarm-tone to activate. Scrolling st atus screens After start-up, the interface displays the firmware revision number on the display interface.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 14 Navigating the main menu Selector arrow . Press the up or down arrow key to move the selector arrow to a main menu option. Press the E NTER key to view the selected sub-menu screen. In the example shown below , the selector arrow points to the Set Date and T ime setting.
15 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e Using the Path statement Select the main- and sub-menu options specified in t h e path statement to view or configure a setting. The path statement lists the main- and sub-menu items you select to navigate to the item to view or modify .
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 16 Stop the cooling unit Path: Main > On/S tandby Press the E NTER key to change the setting to S tandby . The cooling unit enters the standby mode. Electrical Hazard: The Standby option does not remove p o wer from the cooling unit.

Set the rack deployment strategy for th e cooling units of this coolin g group: • Spot: The cooling unit is us ed as a stand-alone unit. • In-Row : Air flow is not ducted. Hot-aisle air is cooled and the cooled-air supp ly is shared by all loads in the row .
19 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e Control the Environment The primary function of the cooling unit is to captur e the h eat generated by IT equipment and neutralize it before it mixes with the room. Th e control strategies employed by the cooling unit depend upon the deployment strategy of the cooling group.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 20 PID settings Path: Main > Set Group PID The Proportional plus In tegral plus Derivative (PID) loop controls th e output of the fans. Caution: This procedure is to be performed by APC authorized personnel only .
21 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e T une the PID loop T une the PID loop to optimize the performance of the coolin g group. Caution: This procedure must be performed by APC authorized pers onnel only . The PID loop must be tuned after the equipment in the room is installed and ru nning.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 22 Run hours The cooling unit records the number of hours each of its components has operat ed. When a compon ent is replaced, use the Reset Run Hours option to reset the run hours for the displayed component to zero.
23 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e Display Settings Set display interface settings incl uding the time and date, units of measure, passwords, and time-out settings. Y ou can also adjust the contrast, key click, beeper volume, and beep-on-alarm settings.

Configure the network se ttings for the Network Mana gement Card for this cooling unit from the display interfa ce.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 26 V iew St atus Readings The display interface has several optio ns for viewing the status of the coo ling unit, the cooling group to which the cooling unit belongs, an d the enviro nment being controlled.

The combined output of the cool ing group. Cool Demand. The cooling output required to meet the cu rrent heat load of the conditioned space.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 28 Event Log The event log saves status information and a mes sage each time a change in the cooling group is detected. Alarms and events are recorded in the lo g and displayed on the active alarms screen.

Co nfigure the Network Mana gement Card to control this cooling unit through a network.
33 InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Op eration and Maintenanc e APC Device IP Configuration Wizard Y ou can use the APC Device IP Configuration W i zard at a computer running Microsoft ® W indows 2000, W indows Server 2003, or W indows XP to configure a Network Management Card.
InRow RD 10 kW Air Cooled Opera tion and Maintenan ce 34 BOOTP . For the Network Management Card to use a B OOTP server to configure its TCP/IP settings, it must find a properly configured RFC951-compliant BOOTP server .

Select a serial port at the local computer, and disable any service that uses that port.
