T aking pictu res and videos 9 Using the auto-focus framing marks When using the camer a screen as a vi ewfinder , fr aming marks indicate where the camera is focusing. F o r the best pict ures , the camera attempts to focus on foreground subjects , even if the subj ects are not centered in the scene.
T aking pictures and vide os 10 Reviewing the picture or video just taken After you tak e a picture or video , the camer a screen displays a Quickview for approximately 5 seconds. While the picture or video is displ ayed, you can: ■ Review: If you tak e no action, the picture/video is saved.
T aking pictu res and videos 11 Using digital zoom Use digital zoom i n any still mode to get an additional 4X magnificati on beyond optical zoom. Co mbined zoom settings are from 3.6X to 12X. Y ou must turn on the camer a screen before activ ating digital zoom.
T aking pictures and vide os 12 Aperture Priority Controlling aperture, exposure compensation, flash compensation, and ISO speed. Aperture priority mode is primarily used to control depth of field (the range of sharpness). NOTE: The aperture setting may be affected when using optical zoom.

T aking pictures and videos 23 Focus Zone Choose a large or conce ntrated area of focus. This setting remains until y ou change it. The setting is displayed on the right side of Liveview if set to Center-zone or Selectable-zone. Multi-zone (default)— evaluates 3 zones to give an even picture focus.
