4 AM Antenna Connections AM Loop Antenna Snap the tabs on the loop into the slots of the base to assemble the AM loop. Basic connecting procedur e 1 Cut, twist and r emove the insulation at the end of each speaker signal cable. 2 Open the terminal and then insert the speaker signal cable.
5 Connecting the subwoofer speaker Y ou can enhance the bass by connecting a subwoofer . Connect the input jack of a powered subw oofer to the SUBWOOFER OUT jack on the rear panel, using a cable with RCA pin plugs.
6 Video component connections Use the cables with RCA pin plugs (not supplied). Connect the white plug to the audio left jack, the red plug to the audio right jack, and the yellow plug to the video jack. If D VD player and TV ha ve S-video (Y/C-separation) terminals, connect them using S-video cables (not supplied).
7 Connecting the Power Cord Before plugging the receiv er into an A C outlet, make sure that all connections hav e been made. Plug the power cord into an A C outlet. K ee p the power cor d away from the connecting cables and the antenna. The po wer cord may cause noise or screen interference.
8 Basic Operations The following operations are commonly used when you play any sound source. T urning the Power On and Off (Standby) On the front panel: T o turn on the power , press PO WER. The ST ANDBY lamp goes off. The name of the current source (or station frequency) appears on the display .
9 VOLUME Adjusting the V olume On the front panel: T o increase the volume, turn MASTER V OLUME clockwise. T o decrease the volume, turn it counterclockwise. • When you turn MASTER V OLUME rapidly , the volume le vel also changes rapidly . • When you turn MASTER V OLUME slowly , the volume le vel also changes slo wly .
10 Attenuating the Input Signal When the input le vel of the playing source is too high, the sounds will be distorted. If this happens, you need to attenuate the input signal lev el to prev ent the sound distortion. On the front panel ONL Y : Press INPUT A TT .
11 3. Press cursor contr ol @ / # to select y our center speaker size. LARGE: Select this mode when the size of the center speaker is the same as that of the front speakers. SMALL: Select this mode when the size of the center speaker is smaller than that of the front speakers.
12 On the front panel: 1. Press SETTING so that the cursor control % / fi buttons work f or setting the delay time. 2. Press cursor contr ol % / fi re peatedly until “DELA Y TIME” appears on the display . 3. Press cursor contr ol @ / # to select an appropriate delay time.
13 Receiving Radio Broadcasts Y ou can browse through all the stations or use the preset function to go immediately to a par ticular station. 15 Using the DSP Modes The built-in Surround Processor provides three types of the DSP (Digital Signal Processor) mode — 3D-PHONIC mode, DAP (Digital Acoustic Processor) mode and Surround mode (Dolby Pro Logic and JVC Theater Surround.

18 Fr om the r emote contr ol: 1. Press SOUND CONTR OL. The 10 keys ar e activated for sound adjustments. 2. Press SURR OUND repea tedly until the D AP mode — LIVE CLUB, D ANCE CLUB, HALL, or P A VILION — appears on the display . The DSP and the selected D AP mode indicators also light up on the display .
19 On the front panel: Y ou can also use the b uttons on the front panel to adjust the Surround modes. Howe ver , no test tone is av ailable when using the buttons on the front panel. So, mak e adjustments while listening to the sound of the source played back.
20 Using the DVD MUL TI Playback Mode This receiver provides the DVD MUL TI playback mode for r epr oducing the analog discrete output mode of the DVD player . Before playing back a DVD, refer also to the manual supplied with the DVD player . 7. Press cursor contr ol @ / # to adjust the left rear speak er output level (fr om –10 to +10).
21 Using the On-Scr een Menus Y ou can use the Menus on the TV screen to control the receiver . T o use this function, you need to connect the TV to the MONITOR OUT jack on the rear panel (see page 6), and set the TV’ s input mode to the proper position to which the receiver is connected.

24 COMPU LINK Remote Contr ol System The COMPU LINK remote control system allows you to operate JVC audio components through the remote sensor on the receiver .
25 TEXT COMPU LINK Remote Contr ol System The TEXT COMPU LINK remote control system has been newly developed to deal with the disc information recorded in the CD T ext* and MDs. Using these information in the discs, you can operate the CD player or MD recorder equipped with the TEXT COMPU LINK remote control system through the receiver .

29 For the MD recor der: Y ou can write the disc information (disc title and song titles) into the disc. Y ou can only write the song title for the song currently selected.
30 A V COMPU LINK Remote Contr ol System The A V COMPU LINK remote control system allows you to operate JVC video components (TV , VCR, and DVD player) through the receiver . T o use this remote control system, you need to connect the video components you want to operate, follo wing the procedures below .
31 The A V COMPU LINK remote control system allows you to use the fi ve basic functions listed belo w . For the D VD player and the VCR: • Aim the remote control directly at the remote sensor on the each component.
32 Operating JVC’ s Audio/V ideo Components Y ou can operate JVC’s audio and video components with this receiver’ s remote control, since control signals for JVC components are preset in the remote control.

34 Operating Other Manufacturers’ V ideo Equipment This remote control supplied with the recei ver can transmit control signals for other manufacturers’ VCRs, TVs, CA TV converters and satellite tuners.
