Introduction 4 Insert the batteries into th e remote c ontrol by matchin g the pola rity (+ and –) corre ctly . • If the rang e or effec tivenes s of the remot e control d ecreases, repla ce both b atteries. Point th e remote cont rol direc tly at the front of the main unit .
5 Preparation When radio rec eption with the supp lied FM ante nna is poor, or when u sing a communal an tenna • When usi ng an antenn a other than th ose supp lied for this sy stem, refer to the op eration ma nuals for the antenna and converter for details of c onnec tion.
Preparation 6 Connect th e speakers to th e main unit by conne cting the colored connec tors to the sam e colo r terminal s on the rear of the main uni t. ■ IMPORT ANT • Improper speaker cable con nection reduces the stereo ef fect and sound qu ality .
7 Preparation This system is desig ned to provide virtu al surround sound by positioning th e 3 speaker s in fro nt. (The set of the lef t and right s peake rs and the subwoo fer refe rs to 2.1 c hannel.) The fr ont surround function proc esses i nput signals to create a real istic so und field.
Preparation 8 ■ IMPORT ANT • Connect th e main unit dire ctly to a TV (or a monitor) without r outing through a v ideo cassette recorder (VCR) or an HDD/DVD recorder . Otherwise pict ure distortion may oc cur during pl ayback. (Routing the connectio n through a VCR or an HDD/DVD reco rder , however , does not af fect the aud io quali ty .
9 Preparation Before co nnecting the power c able to an AC outlet, you mu st set the correc t voltage fo r your area. Slide t he volt age selector on the main unit to the c orrect volt age for your area. • Confirm that the posi tion of the vo lta ge sel ector corres ponds to the vol tage in your area.
