21 Listening to Cassette Tapes Listening to Cassette T a pes 1 Insert a cassette t ape. CAUTION • Before using a cassette tape, wind up any slack in the cassette tape. ( page 45) • Do not use long cassette tapes such as C-120 or C-150. Long cassette tapes are thin and stretch easily , and may become tangled in the inner part of the main unit.

I 24 English Recording Sound NOTE • The recorded sound level is automatically adjusted. • The CD rotates at high speed during high speed recording. Therefore, depe nding on the condition of the CD, the sound may be recorded improperly and affected by noise.

29 Editing MDs Giving (Editing) T itles • Y ou cannot edit an MD while its write protect knob is open ( page 45). When you attempt to edit a protected MD, "DISC PROTECTED" appears. • When you finish editing, "EDITING" appears, then "WRITING" flashes and the edited setting is recorded to the MD.

However , the actual number of characters that you can enter is less than the number indicated here because of restrictions of the MD writing method.

Introduction 44 English Reference Reference Restrictions on MDs MDs employ an original recording me thod different from th ose used for cassette t apes and digital audio tapes. Because the MD recording me thod has some restrict ions, the following phen omena may occur .
45 Handling CDs/MDs/Cassette T apes • Do not put adhesive tape or stickers, or write on a CD. • Do not bend a CD. • Be sure not to use heart/flower shaped CDs or other irregularly shaped CDs. The use of such CDs damages the main unit. • Be sure not to use thinners, benzenes, cleaners for analog records, or other chemical agents.
