11 ENGLISH • Using the Graphic User Interface (GUI) from the r emote controller Y ou can use the Graphic User Interface in the same w ay as you touch the panel icons. Examples: Display GUI on the monitor (the cursor—yellow frame— appears around the currently selected icon).

24 ENGLISH Changing the aspect ratio Y ou can change the aspect ratio of the playback pictures. • This function is only possible using the b uttons on the main unit or on the remote controller . • Aspect ratio cannot be changed while the GUI operation mode is activ ated.
25 ENGLISH Operating the disc menu Menu-dri ven playback is possible while playing back a D VD with menu-dri ven features or a VCD with the PlayBack Control (PBC) function. While playing a DVD: D VD discs generally hav e their own menus or title lists.

33 ENGLISH Y ou can play back two dif ferent sources as the main source (MAIN) and subsidiary source (SUB). Y ou can listen to the main source through the speakers, while the subsidiary sour ce through the monitor inserted into the cradle or the one connected to the A V OUTPUT jacks.
34 ENGLISH Adjusting A V OUTPUT volume Select an appropriate v olume lev el for the component connected to the A V OUTPUT jacks on the hideaw ay unit. • This functions without respect to the Dual Mode setting. 1 2 3 4 Adjust the A V output v olume. 36 ENGLISH Introducing surround/DSP mode Surround modes Dolby Digital Dolby Digital is a digital signal compression method, de veloped by Dolby Laboratories, and enables multi-channel encoding and decoding (1ch up to 5.1ch). Dolby Digital 5.1 CH Dolby Digital 5.
37 ENGLISH T urning on and off the surround/ DSP mode Y ou can use surround or Digital Signal Processor (DSP) mode while playing an y source. Ho wever , when playing a multi-channel encoded disc, you cannot apply DSP mode to the playback sounds.
38 ENGLISH Ex. When selecting “HALL. ” 4 Adjust the selected surround or DSP mode. When surround mode is acti vated: : Selected automatically when multi- channel DTS signal is detected (while playing a D VD or a DTS CD). No further adjustment is allo wed.
39 ENGLISH Sound Modes (iEQ) Operations The follo wing operations are only possible for the main source when using Dual Mode. Select sound modes. Displa y the other set of the sound modes. Adjust the le vel of each frequency band. Store your adjustment (displa y the screen below).
40 ENGLISH Selecting preset sound modes Y ou can select a sound mode suitable to the music genre. A vailable sound modes: • HARD R OCK / R&B / POP / J AZZ / D ANCE / COUNTR Y / REGGAE / CLASSIC • USER1 / USER2 / USER3 • FLA T (T o cancel the sound mode) 1 2 3 4 Select one of the preset sound (iEQ) modes.

49 ENGLISH Initial Setup—AUDIO MENU/PSM Y ou can preset the initial audio-related conditions and Preferred Setting Modes (PSM). • Y ou cannot select “ A UDIO MENU” when the subsidiary source operation screen is displayed on the monitor (with Dual Mode turned on; see page 33).
50 ENGLISH AUTO SURROUND Y ou can acti vate an appropriate surround mode automatically when a loaded disc is detected. • ON : An appropriate surround/DSP mode is automatically selected. While Dolby Digital multi-channel signals are detected, “Dolby Digital” is automatically selected.
51 ENGLISH D (Dynamic). RANGE COMPRESSION Y ou can enjoy a po werful sound ev en at a low volume le vel by compressing dynamic range (dif ference between the lowest and the highest frequency sounds). • This takes ef fect for all the playback sources.
52 ENGLISH A V2 INPUT SELECT Y ou can determine the use of A V INPUT 2 jacks on the hideaw ay unit—select either “VIDEO” or “CAMERA. ” • When the playback source is “ A V2, ” this setting cannot be changed.

71 ENGLISH MONITOR TYPE • When you select “16:9 NORMAL” for a picture whose aspect ratio is 4:3, the picture slightly changes due to the process for con verting the picture width. • Even if “4:3 PS” is selected, the screen size may become “4:3 LB” with some D VDs.
