2 ENGLISH How to reset your unit After detaching the control panel, press the reset button on the panel holder using a ball-point pen or similar tool. This will reset the built-in microcomputer . Note: • Y our pr eset adjustments – such as pr eset channels or sound adjustments – will also be erased.

ENGLISH 5 Preparing the remote controller 2. Place the battery . Slide the batter y into the holder with the + side facing upw ards so that the batter y is fixed in the holder . Lithium coin battery (product number: CR2025) 3. Return the battery holder .

8 ENGLISH RADIO OPERA TIONS Listening to the radio Y ou can use either automatic searching or manual searching to tune in to a par ticular station. Searching a station automatically: Auto search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This r eceiver has three FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3).
9 ENGLISH Searching a station manually: Manual search 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM). Note: This receiver has thr ee FM bands (FM1, FM2, FM3). Y ou can use any one of them to listen to an FM br oadcast. 2 Press and hold ¢ or 4 until “MANU” (manual) starts flashing on the display .
10 ENGLISH Storing stations in memor y Y ou can use one of the following two methods to store broadcasting stations in memory . • Automatic preset of FM stations: SSM (Strong- station Sequential Mem.
11 ENGLISH T uning in to a preset station Y ou can easily tune in to a preset station. Remember that y ou must store stations first. If y ou hav e not stored them yet, see “Stor ing stations in memory” on pages 10 and 11. 1 Select the band (FM1 – 3, AM).
12 ENGLISH What you can do with RDS RDS (Radio Data System) allows FM stations to send an additional signal along with their regular programme signals . F or e xample, the stations send their station names, as well as inf ormation about what type of programme they broadcast, such as spor ts or music, etc.
13 ENGLISH 1 Press and hold SEL (select) for more than 2 seconds so that one of the PSM items appears on the display . (PSM: see page 26.) 2 Select “AF-REG (alternative frequency/regionalization reception)” if not shown on the display . 3 Select the desired mode – “AF ,” “AF REG” or “OFF .
14 ENGLISH Using PTY Standby Reception PTY Standby Reception allo ws the unit to switch temporarily to your f avourite prog ramme (PTY : Programme T ype) from the current source (another FM station, tape or other connected components). • PTY Standby Reception will not work if you ar e listening to an AM station.
15 ENGLISH Searching your favourite programme Y ou can search any one of the PTY codes. In addition, you can store y our 6 fav ourite programme types in the number b uttons. When shipped from the factory , the follo wing 6 programme types ha v e been stored in the number buttons (1 to 6).
16 ENGLISH Other convenient RDS functions and adjustments Changing the display mode while listening to an FM station Y ou can change the initial indication on the display to station name (PS NAME) or station frequency (FREQ) while listening to an FM RDS station.
17 ENGLISH Automatic selection of the station when using the number buttons Usually when you press the n umber button, the preset station is tuned in. Howe ver , when the preset station is an RDS station, something diff erent will happen.

19 ENGLISH T APE OPERA TIONS Listening to a cassette 1 Open the control panel. 2 Insert a cassette into the cassette compartment. The unit turns on and tape pla y starts automatically . 3 Close the control panel by hand. 4 Select the tape direction. Each time you press 5 23 , the tape direction changes alternately forward and re verse.
20 ENGLISH Finding the beginning of a tune Multi Music Scan allows you to automatically start playbac k from the beginning of a specified tune. Y ou can specify up to 9 tunes ahead of or before the current tune. During playback Specify where (how many tunes ahead of or before the current tune) the tune you want is located.
21 ENGLISH Other convenient tape functions Skipping the blank portions on the tape Y ou can skip blank por tions between the tunes (Blank Skip). When this function is on, the unit skips blank por tions of 15 seconds or more, f ast-forw ards to the ne xt tune, then star ts playing it.
22 ENGLISH SOUND ADJUSTMENTS Adjusting the sound Y ou can adjust the sound character istics to your preference . 2 Adjust the level. Note: Normally , the contr ol dial works as the volume contr ol. So you do not have to select “VOL” to adjust the volume level.

27 ENGLISH T o set Custom Equalizer Link – CEQ LINK A different sound mode (C-EQ) can be stored in memory for each source so that you can change the sound modes simply by changing the sources . When shipped from the factory , this mode is deactivated.
28 ENGLISH Attaching the control panel 1 Insert the right side of the control panel into the groove on the panel holder . 2 Press the left side of the control panel to fix it to the panel holder . Note on cleaning the connectors: If you frequently detac h the contr ol panel, the connectors will deteriorate .
29 ENGLISH CD CHANGER OPERA TIONS W e recommend that you use one of the CH-X series with your unit. If you ha ve another CD automatic changer , consult your JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer for connections. • F or example, if your CD automatic chang er is one of the KD-MK series, you need a cor d (KS-U15K) for connecting it to this unit.
30 ENGLISH T o fast-for ward or reverse the track T o go to the next or previous tracks Press and hold ¢ , while playing a disc , to fast-f orward the trac k. Press and hold 4 , while pla ying a disc, to rev erse the track. Press ¢ briefly , while pla ying a disc, to go ahead to the beginning of the next trac k.
31 ENGLISH T o play back tracks repeatedly (Repeat Play) 1 Press MODE (M) to enter the functions mode while playing a disc. “MODE” appears on the upper par t of the display , and the number buttons work as different function buttons.
ENGLISH 32 EXTERNAL COMPONENT OPERA TIONS Aux input Playing an external component Y ou can connect the external component to the CD changer jack on the rear using the Line Input Adaptor KS-U57 (not supplied).
ENGLISH 33 We recommend that y ou use DAB (Digital A udio Broadcasting) tuner KT -DB1500 with your unit. If you ha ve another D AB tuner , consult your JVC IN-CAR ENTER T AINMENT dealer. • Refer also to the Instructions supplied with y our D AB tuner.
ENGLISH 34 T o change the display information while tuning in to an ensemble Normally ser vice name is shown on the display . If you want to change the displa y information, press DISP (D) (displa y). Each time you press the b utton, the follo wing information appears on the displa y for a while.
ENGLISH 35 Storing DAB services in memory Y ou can preset up to 6 DAB services in each D AB band (DAB1, D AB2 and D AB3) manually . 1 Select the DAB tuner . Each time you press and hold the button, the D AB tuner and the FM/AM tuner are alternately selected.
