2 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS About burning-in of the D-ILA de vice Do not allow the same still picture to be projected f or a long time or an abnormally br ight video picture to be projected. Do not project video images with high-intensity or high contrast on a screen.
3 – Slots and openings in the cabinet are provided f or ventilation. These ensure reliable oper ation of the product and protect it from ov erheating. These openings must not be bloc ked or cov ered. (The openings should nev er be bloc ked by placing the product on bed, sof a, rug, or similar surface.
4 Saf ety Precaution The wire which is colored green-and-y ellow must be connected to the terminal which is mar ked with the letter E or the saf ety ear th or colored green or green-and-y ellow . The wire which is colored blue m ust be connected to the termi- nal which is marked with the letter N or colored blac k.

15 Precautions f or Installation Installing the Pr ojector Please read the f ollowing properly when installing the projector . Installation En vironment Please do not install or use this pr ojector in the follow- ing places. The projector is a precision de vice and do- ing so could cause a fire or malfunction.
16 Installing the Pr ojector against the Screen Installing the Projector The picture quality ma y deteriorate when performing KEYST ONE compensation. It is recommended to place the projector per pen- dicularly to the screen.
17 Pr ojection Distance and Screen Size • This projector uses 1.3x manual z oom lens for projection. • Although the f ocusable projection distance is about 1.
18 When the remote control unit fails to w ork properly • When the batteries in the remote control unit are exhausted, improper functioning will occur . Please replace with new batteries. • When either the remote control unit or projector alone is connected to the remote cab le, the item connected will not be able to w ork.

21 Connecting to V arious Devices Connection • When connecting a video de vice, please use a TBC along with it, or use one with a built-in TBC. • Use of an e xtension cable to connect a video de vice and the projector could cause image deterioration or projection failure .

Adjusting the Sound V olume To increase the volume : press [V OLUME] ª (0 ➞ 50) To lower the v olume : press [VOLUME] · (50 ➞ 0) When “Menu displa y” ( ☞ page 39) is set to “15sec”, after pressing the [V OLUME] button, the sound v ol- ume displa y will appear on the screen f or about 15 seconds.

45 Notes • Setting the logo displa y item in the “Logo” menu to “ON” and switching on the po wer dis- plays the D-ILA logo and then the user-set logo . (F actor y setting is “ON”) • When the D-ILA or user-set logo is displa yed after the projector is turned on, pressing the [EXIT] button will delete the logo .

51 Tr oubleshooting Before consulting y our author ized dealer , please check the f ollowing points. Symptom Po wer is not sup- plied. Light is not emitted, or light is dim. With power on, the projector w orks but stops abruptly in a few minutes. Video image does not appear , or audio sound does not oc- cur .
52 T roub leshooting Video image is fuzzy . Video image is ab- normally dark or bright. Color is poor or un- stable. The upper part of the video image bows or distorts.
53 No de vice is connected to the input ter minal. The terminal is connected but no signal is output from the connected de vice. • The selected input mode (input terminal) name is shown abov e the mes- sage. [ Check the input image signal source . The frequency of the input video signal is out of range .
54 What to do when these messages are displa yed When the “Lamp time” reaches 1000 hours [ A message indicating “1000h” appears on the projected screen. • Press [EXIT] button to delete the message . At the moment when the accumulated lamp time reaches 1900 hours, a “Lamp replacement” message will be displayed.
