3 Getting Started Step 1 : Unpack After unpacking, check to be sure that you have all the following items. The number in parentheses indicates the quantity of each piece supplied. • FM antenna (1) • AM loop antenna (1) • Remote control (1) • Batteries (2) If any item is missing, consul t your dealer immediately.
4 Step 3 : Hook Up If you need more detailed information, see page 5. To a wall outlet Plug the AC power cord only after all connections are complete. FM antenna (supplied) Extend it so that you can obtain the best reception. Red Black AM loop antenna (supplied ) Turn it until the best reception is obtained.
5 To connect the A M loop antenna Make sure to connect the wire correctly. For better FM/AM reception • Make sure the antenna conductors do not touch any other terminals, connecting cords a nd the AC power cord. Also, keep the antenna away from meta llic parts of the System, connecting cords, and the AC power cord.
6 Before Operating the System The indications on the display teach you a lot of things while you are oper ating the System. Before operating the Sy stem, be familiar with when and how the indicator ill uminates on the display. 1 TRACK indicator • Lights when a disc or USB ma ss storage class devi ce is played.
7 Daily Operations —Playback 1 Turn on the power. The STANDBY lamp on the main unit turns off. 2 Select the source. Playback automati cally starts if the sele cted source is ready to start. • If you select AUDIO IN, st art playback source on the external component.
8 Listening to the Radio To select the band (FM or AM) From the remote control: On the main unit: To tune in to a station While FM or AM is sele cted... Station searching starts and th e frequency indication starts changing on the display. When a station (frequency) with sufficient signal strength is tuned in, the searching will stop.
9 Playable Media and Files This System can play back fo llowing types of discs/files. • Audio CD • MP3/WMA files on a CD-R, CD-RW, or USB mass storage class device • This System may not play back some files even though their formats ar e listed above.
10 Playing Back Discs/Files To select a track/g roup To select a track: To select a group (MP3/WMA only): To locate a particular portion While playing a disc, press and hold until the portion you want is reached. To locate a track directly and start play • When you play back an MP3/WMA file, you can only select the tracks of the current group.
11 Daily Operations —Sound & Other Adjustments Adjusting the Volume You can adjust the volume le vel from level 0 (“VOL MIN”) to level 31 (“VOL MAX”). To drop the volume in a moment Adjusting the Sound To reinforce the bass so und—HBS You can enjoy powerful bass sound with the Hyper-Bass Sound effect.
12 Setting the Clock Set the clock before using th e Daily Timer (see page 16). • You can set the clock only when the System is turned off (on standby). 1 Turn off (standby) the System. 2 Activate the clock setting mode. 3 Adjust the hour. 4 Adjust the minute.
13 Advanced Disc/USB Mass Stor age Class Device Operations Programming the Playing Order— Program Play You can arrange the playing order of the tracks (up to 32) before you start playback. • You can repeat the progra mmed tracks by pressing REPEAT.
14 (2) Select a track. 4 Confirm the selecti on. Next program step is indicated. 5 Repeat steps 3 and 4 to program the other tracks. 6 Start playback. The tracks you have selected are played back in the order you have programmed. • You cannot select the track wi th the number buttons during Program Play.
15 Playing at Random—R andom Play You can play back all the tracks at random. 1 Select the sour ce. 2 Start Random Play. Playback starts in the random order. Random Play ends when all tracks are played. • You cannot select the track with the number buttons during Random Play.
16 Daily Timer Operations Setting the Daily Timer Using the Daily Timer, you ca n wake up with music, etc. • Set the clock before setting th e Dail y Timer. (See page 12.) • To exit from the timer setti ng, press STOP 7 as required. 1 Activate the Daily Timer setting.
17 (2) Set the hour. (3) Set the minutes as the hour setting above. You cannot set On time and Of f time on th e same time setting. 4 Select the playb ack source. (1) Proceed to the playback source setting. (2) Select the playback source; “ CD,” “ USB,” or “ TUNER”.
18 Additional Information Learning More about This System Daily Operations—Playback (see pages 7 to 10) Listening to the Radio: • If you store a new station into an occupied preset number, the previously stored station in that number will be erased.
19 Daily Operations—Sound & Other Adjustments (see pages 11 and 12) Adjusting the Volume: • Be sure to turn down the volume before connecting or putting the headphones. Adjusting the Sound: • This function also affects the sound through the headphones.
20 Disc Operations: The disc does not play. ] The disc is placed upside down. Place the disc with the label side up. The disc sound is dis continuous. ] The disc is scra tched or dirty . Daily Timer Operations: The Daily Timer does not work. ] The System has been turned on when the on-time comes.
