– 6 – English Getting Started Unpacking After unpacking, check to be sure that you ha ve all the follo wing items. The number in the parentheses indicates the quantity of the pieces supplied. • AM loop antenna (1) • FM antenna (1) • Remote control (1) • Batteries (2) If any is missing, consult your dealer immediately .
– 7 – English 1 Connect the AM loop antenna to the AM LOOP terminals as illustrated. 2 T urn the AM loop antenna until you ha ve the best r ece ption. T o connect an outdoor AM antenna When reception is poor , connect a single vinyl-co vered wire to the AM EXT terminal and extend it horizontally .
– 8 – English T o start the display demonstration manually Press and hold DEMO f or more than 2 seconds. T o stop the demonstration, press any button. T o connect audio equipment with an optical digital input terminal Y ou can record CD sound onto the connected digital equipment.
– 9 – English Common Operations T urning On or Off the Power T o turn on the unit, press PO WER so that the ST ANDBY lamp goes off. The Po wered Rolling Panel opens automatically . T o turn off the unit (on standby), press PO WER again so that the ST ANDBY lamp lights up.
– 10 – English Reinforcing the Bass Sound The SUBWOOFER VOLUME control pro vided for this unit can enhance the subwoofer sound if subwoofers are connected to the rear of this unit (see page 7). This function only af fects the playback sound , b ut does not affect y our recording.
– 11 – English Surround modes * : D.CLUB : Increases resonance and bass. HALL : Adds depth and brilliance to the sound. ST ADIUM : Adds clarity and spreads the sound, like in an outdoor stadium. SEA (Sound Effect Amplifier) modes: R OCK : Boosts lo w and high frequency .
– 12 – English Listening to FM and AM Broadcasts T uning in a Station 1 Pr ess FM/AM. The unit automatically turns on and tunes in the previously tuned sta tion (either FM or AM). The P owered Rolling Panel automatically opens. • Each time you press the button, the band alternates between FM and AM.
– 13 – English Playing Back CDs Loading CDs On the unit ONL Y : 1 Pr ess 0 f or the disc tray (CD1 to 3) y ou want to load a CD onto. The unit automatically turns on and the disc tray comes out. T he Powered Rolling Panel also opens automatically .
– 14 – English T o locate a particular point in a track During play , press and hold 1 or ¡ . • 1 : Fast re verses the disc. • ¡ : Fast forw ards the disc. When using the remote control, press and hold 1 / 4 or ¢ / ¡ . T o go to another track Press 4 or ¢ repeatedly before or during playback.
– 15 – English T o stop during play , press 7 . • Random play also stops when one of the disc trays is opened. T o exit from Random play mode, press PR OGRAM/ RANDOM repeatedly again before or after play so that the unit enters another play mode.
– 16 – English Playing Back T apes Y ou can play back type I, type II, and type IV tapes without changing any settings. Playing Back a T ape 1 Pr ess EJECT ( 0 ) for the deck y ou want to use. 2 Put a cassette in, with the exposed part of the tape down.
– 17 – English Recording Recording a T ape on Deck B 1 Press EJECT 0 f or the deck B. 2 Put in a recordab le cassette, with the exposed part of the tape down. 3 Close the cassette holder gently . 4 Check the tape direction of deck B. • If the tape direction is not correct, press T APE 2 3 twice then 7 to change the tape direction.
– 18 – English CD Direct Recording Everything on the CD goes onto the tape in the order it is on the CD, or according to the order you hav e made for Program play . 1 Put a recordable cassette into deck B. 2 Place a disc correctl y on the circle of the disc tray , with its label side up.
– 19 – English Auto Edit Recording By using Auto Edit Recording, you can record the CD tracks to f it the tape. Auto Edit Recording makes a program by selecting the CD tracks in numerical order .
– 20 – English Using the T imers There are three timers av ailable — Recording T imer , Daily T imer , and Sleep T imer . Before using the timers, you need to set the clock built in the unit. (See page 9.) Using Daily Timer W ith Daily T imer , you can wake to your fa vorite music or radio program.
