3 Prepar ation 2 Connecting the aerial and VCR •R ead the manuals pro vided with the devices. Depending on the device , the connection method may be differ ent from the diagrams . Also the device settings may need to change depending on the connection method.
4 Prepar ation 3 Connecting other devices If you ar e not connecting any other devices , skip step 3 and perform step 4. • Use the headphones with a stereo mini jack (3.5 mm in diameter). When y ou connect the headphones, the TV speak ers go off. • The OUTPUT terminal outputs the video and sound signals which you ar e viewing on the TV .

F ollow the instructions on the on-scr een display to perform the SETUP T OUR. • In case of resetting that the r eason for such as remov al, you can set the A UT O CH PRESET function on the “MENU 3” menu.

8 Remote control buttons and functions MUTING button Y ou can turn the sound off instantly . Press this button. To turn the sound on, press this button again.
9 DISPLA Y button Y ou can continuously display the current channel number or VIDEO mode on the screen. Press this button. To turn the display off, pr ess this button again. • When selecting a VIDEO mode with no signal, indication of the VIDEO mode becomes fixed on the scr een.
10 PICTURE MODE button Y ou can select one of three picture adjustment settings as you lik e . Press this button to select a mode. BRIGHT : Heightens contrast and sharpness . ST ANDARD: Standardizes pictur e adjustments. SOFT : Softens contrast and sharpness .
11 Remote control buttons and functions SWAP ( ) button Y ou can swap the input source of main and sub-pictures b y this button while sub-piture is displa yed. Press this button to swap the input source of main and sub-pictures so that the image of sub-picture is displayed on main-picture and vice-versa.
12 Remote control buttons and functions C.SYS button If the sub-picture is not clear or no colour appears , change the current colour s ystem to another colour sy stem. •P r ess this button to select the colour system. • About each selected mode , see “COLOUR S YSTEM button” on page 8.
13 V iewing teletext pr ogrammes ■ Basic operation 1 Select a TV channel with a teletext programme. 2 Press the TV/TEXT button to change the TV mode to the teletext mode. The mode cy cles as follows: 3 Select a teletext page by pressing the CHANNEL –/+ button, Number buttons or coloured buttons.
14 REVEAL ( ? ) Some teletext pages include hidden te xt (such as answer s to a quiz). Y ou can display the hidden text. Each time you press the REVEAL button, text is hidden or revealed. HOLD ( 5 5 ) Y ou can hold a teletext page on the screen for as long as you w ant, even while sev eral other teletext pages ar e being r eceiv ed.
15 Using the TV’ s menus This TV has a number of functions you can oper ate using the menus. T o use all your TV’s functions fully , you need to understand ho w to use the menus. ■ Basic operation 1 Press the MENU T buttons. One of the 6 menus is display ed.
16 Using the TV’ s menus INPUT Y ou can view images from VCRs or other devices connected to y our TV . 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 1” menu, then select “INPUT”.
17 Using the TV’ s menus AUTO SHUTOFF Y ou can set your TV to turn off if no signals are r eceived for about 15 minutes or longer after the end of a broadcast.
18 VIDEO-2 SET Set the VIDEO-2 SET correctly accor ding to the video signal input from the e xternal device connected to the VIDEO-2 terminal. If this setting is incorrect, images will not be display ed. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 2” menu, then select “VIDEO-2 SET”.
19 Using the TV’ s menus AI VOLUME Y ou can prevent the sudden incr ease or decrease of v olume that occurs when changing channels or switching VIDEO modes.
20 MANUAL CH PRESET Y ou can manually preset desired TV channels to desired channels . 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 3” menu, then select “MANUAL CH PRESET”. 21 TEXT LANGUAGE Y ou can select one of 5 groups for X7 1 series or 3 groups for S2 1 series from the teletext language gr oups. Set the teletext language group that corr esponds to the language of the teletext pr ogramme that y ou w ant to watch. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 3” menu, then select “TEXT LANGUAGE”.
22 FA VORITE CH SETTING Y ou can set PICTURE MODE, VNR and PICTURE EFFECT functions for the fav orite channels using F A V ORITE CH SETTING menu. 1 Press MENU T to display the “MENU 6” menu, then select “F A VORITE CH SETTING”.
23 AI ECO SENSOR Y ou can enable this function so that the brightness of TV screen is automatically adjusted according to the brightness of y our r oom.

25 Basic operation Check to make sur e the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ OFF ”. When the CHILD LOCK function is set to “ ON ”, the TV cannot be operated using the fr ont control buttons. F or details, see “CHILD LOCK” on page 17. 1 Press CHANNEL –/+ to turn the TV on from standby mode.
26 Tr oubleshooting If there is no pictur e or the TV does not operate normally , make sure the pr oblem isn’t due to the reasons indicated belo w . If the problem per sists even after taking the measur es indicated, please contact a service technician.

PICTURE BOOSTER button When the picture is unclear because the reception le vel of the TV signal is low , activating the Pictur e Booster improv es the picture clarity in some situations .

Press this button to display sub- picture. • When PIP button is pressed while sub-pictur e is display ed, sub-picture is closed. • When TV/TEXT button is pressed while sub-picture is displa yed, sub-picture is closed and TEXT screen is displa yed.
