9 Remote control 12 3 Replace the compar tment cov er . Install two "AA" batteries (not supplied), pa ying attention to the polarity diagram in the battery compar tment. Open the battery compar t- ment cov er in the direction of the arrow . How to install the batteries Use micro batteries type R6 .
10 Connections and Installation Connect your DVD/VCR to your home's antenna and to your TV-set as shown in the illustration. When you have finished these connections you connect your DVD/VCR to the 230 V / 50 Hz mains.
11 Pla ybac k connection The exact arr angement you use to interconnect v ar ious video and audio components to the D VD/VCR is dependent on the model and f eatures of each component. Check the Owner's Manual provided with each component for the location of SCAR T socket.
12 Connect to an A V Amplifier with b uilt-in digital surround If y ou are using an Amplifier with a built-in digital surround as f ollows, you can enjo y the v ar ious audio systems such as Dolby Digital and DTS b y using the Coaxial Digital Output.
13 TEST Setting the TV to the A V -Channel We recommend that tele vision and D VD/VCR are being connected with a scar t cable. In this case, the setting of A V -channel is not necessar y . Picture and sound of video cassette will be transmit- ted to tele vision through the scar t cable automatically .

15 A TS A utomatic T uning System and Auto Time/Date Setting This VCR has a b uilt-in TV receiver module. Bef ore you can recor d a TV program, all the availab le TV stations must be tuned in and preset in the memory .

18 AT S Changing TV station names For a number of TV stations (such as MTV) no name code will be display ed because these TV stations do not pro vide the necessary information. Y ou can enter the respective names your self. Moreover , unwanted station codes can be changed by the user .

21 Manual TV station presetting The Fine T uning adjustment Under a normal receiving condition, the station-search will stops automatically at the best receiving position. That picture will appear without disturbance. This receiving position will be memorized automatically .
22 Automatic tape eject This VCR will automatically rewind the tape when the tape has ended. And when the tape is rewinded to its beginning, the cassette tape will be ejected automatically. Loading and Unloading a Cassette T ape To prevent accidental erasure Remove the erase prevention tab with a screwdriver.
23 Load a prerecorded tape (When loading a cassette tape without the erase prevention tab, playback will start auto- matically). 1 2 Press . Playback will start. If the cassette has not loaded yet, will blink for 4 seconds. T o start playback Press 3 .
24 To return to the initial sharpness setting, press CANCEL while the sharpness setting screen is appearing. Note: Pla yback sharpness Adjust the shar pness of pla yback picture during pla yback. During slow motion, still picture and picture search, shar pness-adjusting is impossible .

27 2 Video Inde x Sear ch System 1 Recording several Inde x Marks Due to the system only one inde x mar k will be recorded at the beginning of a recording. If you intend to set se ver al index marks during a single recording, follo w the procedure below: At the point of the recording where an index mark is to be set press 4 .

32 S HO W V IEW ® -Recording Example: Y ou receiv e NBC on program position 12. In case of the first S HOW V IEW -recording f or NBC, 2 bars will blink at the CH-line . Enter 12 with number keys . Press 1 and then 2 within 2 seconds (if the 2-press was too late, the displa y 1 will be replaced with 2).
33 Timer -Recor ding Timer recording can be pr ogrammed on the TV -screen with the remote control. The b uilt-in timer allows automatic unattended recording of up to 8 programs within 1 month. Note: In the e vent of a po wer failure the data of the automatic recording will be maintained in the built-in memory for about 30 minutes.

35 Detailed Description of the VPS/PDC Function VPS/PDC is a ser vice provided b y the public TV station. When you select a VPS/PDC-compatible TV station and activate the VPS/PDC function, the beginning and the end of the timer recording will be controlled b y the TV station.

Press A.MONITOR repeatedly until "MONO" is displayed on the screen to listen only to the dubbed sound.
39 Before starting the duplicating process, select the proper tape speed using . For a pre-recorded tape the correct tape speed will be set automatically during playback. Duplicating a Video T ape When you try to connect with a cable, make sure the power of both units have been turned off.
