18 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time This chapter pr ovides y ou with the information you need to use y our IMPRESS A without any problems. Y o u will prepare your IMPRESS A step-by-step for y our first coffee experience using it.
19 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time T o enjoy perfect coffee , we recommend that y ou change the wa ter ever y day. Only use fresh, cold wa ter to refill the w ater tank and never milk, miner al water or other liquids. Open the cov er of the wat er t ank.
20 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time If the machine is oper ated with a defective pow er cable, there is a danger of electric shock. Nev er use a machine which has a defective po wer cable . Precondition : The w ater tank must be full.
21 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time Place a receptacle under the c offee spout. h l Press the maintenance button. The machine will rinse itself, stopping aut omatically . READY appears on the display . Y our IMPRESSA is ready to use .

INSERT , the maintenance butt on h light s up. Remo ve the CLARIS plus filter cartridge and the filter car - tridge extension from the W elcome P ack.
23 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time The wa ter hardness can be adjusted between 1° dH and 30° dH. This can also be deactivated, which means that the IMPRESS A won’t let y ou know when it has t o be descaled. Y ou can find out what the water hardness is b y using the Aquadur® test strips enc losed in the W elcome P ack.
24 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time Y ou can adjust the grinder to suit the roast of your c offee . Our recommendations: Select a fine setting for a light roast. Select a coarse setting for a darker roast. If you adjust the fineness of grind when the grinder is not oper ating, the fineness of grind switch c ould be damaged.
25 2 Preparing and using your IMP RESSA for the first time When the IMPRESS A is switched on, a prompt to perform a rinse oper ation automatically appears. Precondition : Y our IMPRESSA is switc hed on at the power switc h and the On/Off button g is illuminated (standby).
26 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options With the IMPRESS A , y ou can prep are an exc ellent coffee speciality at the touch of a button. Y ou also have the option of adjusting the coffee strength and t emperature , as well as the amount of w ater to your personal taste .
27 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options a l Press the 1 Espresso button. 1 ESPRESSO appears on the display . A f ter this, the coffee strength is briefly displa yed. The pre-set amount of water flo ws into the cup and the process stops automatically .

56 8 Maintenance After 200 coffee prepar ations or 80 switch-on rinses, the IMPRESS A will prompt you t o clean it. If the wrong cleaning agent is used, the machine c ould be damaged and/or tr aces of detergent could be left behind in the water . Use only original JURA care product s.
57 8 Maintenance The cleaning oper ation is now c omplete. The IMP RESSA is ready for use again. Y ou can initiate the ‘Cleaning the machine ’ operation manually . Precondition : READY appears on the display . M l K eep the Rotar y S witch pressed until RINSE appears.
58 8 Maintenance The descaling progr amme last s approx. 40 minut es. JURA descaling tablet s are av ailable from your st ockist. If you use a CLARIS plus filt er car tridge and this is activated, you will not be prompt ed to change the filter . Y ou can also tr y out the ‘Descale machine’ oper ation online .
59 8 Maintenance Put the wa ter tank back in. PRESS RINSE - The maintenance butt on h light s up. Place a container under the Connector System © . h l Press the maintenance button. This causes wa ter to flow out of the Connector System © . The oper ation stops automatically - EMPTY TRAY .
60 8 Maintenance Remo ve the milk pipe from the milk carton/bottle or the milk container . Fill the receptacle with 250 ml of fresh w ater and immerse the milk pipe in it. 63 8 Maintenance Loosen the screw in the beam c ontainer and lif t up the finger protection. Remo ve the remaining beans with a v acuum cleaner . Clean the bean container with a sof t, dr y cloth. Put the finger protection down again and screw it back tightly in place .
