The machines, which are pro - duced in Switz erland, hav e already impressed independent, critical testers of goods and design aw ard juries.

12 1 IMPRESSA C5 – Click & Drink Connector System © The Connector System © allows one to use the Easy Cappuc - cino F rother , which is fitted as standard, a hot w ater nozzle for an even jet of w ater and the optionally available 2-stage froth- ing nozzle or the Professional Cappuccino F rother for perfec t milk foam or hot milk.
13 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time This chapter pro vides you with the information y ou need to use your IMPRESSA without any problems.
14 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time T o enjoy perfect coffee, w e recommend that you c hange the wat er ever y day. Only use fresh, cold wat er to refill the wat er tank and never milk, mineral w ater or other liquids. Open the cov er of the water tank.
15 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time If the machine is oper ated with a defective pow er cable, there is a danger of electric shock. Never use a mac hine which has a defective pow er cable . Precondition : the w ater tank must be full.
16 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time m l Press the Rotary Switch. The machine will rinse itself, stopping automatically . The 1 Espresso symbol a will light up indicating that your IMPRESSA is ready t o use.
17 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time Precondition : y our IMPRESSA must be swit ched off (standby mode). Open the access door . n l Hold down the Filter butt on until the Filter indicator n lights up. ä l T urn the Rotary Switch until the 3 light segments around the Rotary Switch light up .
18 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time The harder the wat er is, the more frequently the IMPRESSA needs to be descaled. It is therefore importan t to set the water hardness. Howe ver , if you are using the CLARIS plus filter cartridge and have activat ed the filter , you will not be able to adjust the water hardness.
19 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time Example : to change the w ater hardness from level 3 to le vel 4, proceed as follows: Precondition: y our IMPRESS A must be switched off (standby mode). Open the access door . b l Hold down the Descaling button until the Descaling indi- cator b lights up.
20 2 Preparing and using your IMPRES SA for the first time m l Press the Rotary Switch to initiate prepar ation of the coffee. The grinder will now start up, and the 1 coffee symbol D flashes . T urn the fineness of grind switch to the desired position while the grinder is running.
21 3 F amiliarising yourself with the control options With the IMPRESSA, you can prep are an exc ellent coffee speciality at the touch of a button. Y ou also have the option of adjusting the coffee strength and amount of w ater to y our personal taste while the coffee is bre wing.

29 4 Recipes 2 cold Espressos 200 ml cold milk 1 small cup crushed ice 20 ml maple syrup Milk foam Ingredients (for two people) Prepare Espresso an d leave t o cool. Put cold milk, the maple syrup and crushed ice in a glass and mix. Add the cold Espresso.

32 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button A classic Italian recipe. The Cappuccino c onsists one -third of Espresso, hot milk and milk fo am. It is finished with a sprinkling of cocoa po wder . Precondition : y our IMPRESSA is ready t o use, the Easy Cappucc ino F rother is mounted.
33 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button T o ensure that the Easy Cappuccino F rother works perfectly , you should clean it regularly . F or fur ther information on cleaning, see Chapter 8, “Maintenanc e – cleaning the Easy Cappuccino F rother”.
34 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button Open the filler funnel for pre-ground coffee. Place one lev el measuring spoon of pre-ground coffee in the filler funnel. ä l T urn the Rotar y Switc h to the 1 coffee setting d . m l Press the R otar y Switc h to initiate preparation of the coffee .
35 5 Preparing drinks at the touch of a button r l T urn the switch in the anticlockwise direction. The milk foam will be prepared. t l T urn the switch in the clockwise direc tion when there is sufficient milk foam in the cup. As lo ng a s the light segment c ontinues to flash by the switc h, you can continue preparing milk f oam.
36 6 Adjusting the permanent cup size settings It is easy to adjust the amount of wat er for all coffee spec ialities to the cup size f or good. As in the following example , adjust the amount of wat er once. E very time you prepare a drink in the future, this amount of wat er will be dispensed.
37 7 Adjusting the permanent settings in programming mode By instructing your IMPRESSA t o switch itself off, y ou can cut down your energy consumption.
38 7 Adjusting the permanent settings in programming mode ä l T urn the Rotary Switch until the 2 symbols a s light up. m l Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting. The IMPRESSA will swit ch itself off (into standby mode). The programmable swit ch-off time is now configured at 2 hours.
39 8 Maintenance Y our IMPRESSA has the follo wing integr ated maintenance pro- grams : Rinse the machine Change the filter Clean the machine Descale the machine The illuminated maintenance indicat or draw s your attention to the maintenance actions that are necessary.
40 8 Maintenance Once the IMPRESSA has heat ed up following swit ch-on, the Maintenance symbol h will light up , prompting you to per - form a rinse oper ation. T o initiate the rinse operation, press the Rotary Switch. When the IMPRESSA is swit ched off , a rinse operation is aut o - matically performed.
41 8 Maintenance Lift the car tridge holder . T ake out the old CLARIS plus filt er cartridge. Insert the new CLARIS plus filter car tridge into the w ater tank, pressing it lightly . Close the cartridge holder . It will lock into place audibly . Fill the wat er tank with cold, fresh mains water and reinsert.
42 8 Maintenance The cleaning progr am only lasts about 15 minutes. Do not interrupt the cleaning progr am, as this will impair the quality of cleaning. Y our dealer will stock JURA cleaning tablets. T r y out the “Cleaning the machine ” oper ation online.
43 8 Maintenance Insert the empt y drip tray and c offee grounds container back in the machine . The cleaning oper ation is now complete . The Maintenance symbol h flashes, the IMPRESSA heats up and is once again ready for use . Y ou can initiate the “Cleaning the machine ” operation manually .
44 8 Maintenance T o descale your IMPRES SA when prompted to do so , you should proceed as follows: Precondition : the maintenance indicat or and the Descaling indi- cator b are lit up. b l Hold down the Descaling button until the Descaling indi- cator b flashes.
45 8 Maintenance t l T urn the switch in the clockwise direction. The descaling operation will resume . Af ter a few minutes, the coffee grounds container indicator x flashes. Empty the cont ainer under the Connector System © . Empty the drip tray and the coff ee grounds container .
46 8 Maintenance T o ensure that the Easy Cappuccino F rother works perfectly , you should rinse it with wat er whenever y ou have prepared some milk. The IMPRESSA will not prompt you to rinse the Easy Cappuc - cino Froth er . Carefully remov e the Easy Cappuccino F rother from the Connector System © .
47 8 Maintenance Immerse the milk pipe in the receptacle. ä l T urn the Rotar y Switc h so that it points to the Steam symbol k . m l Press the Rotary Switch to c onfirm the action. The Steam symbol k will continue flashing until the IMPRESSA has w armed up.
48 8 Maintenance The wat er tank may build up deposits of limescale. In order to ensure perfec t working order , descale the wat er tank from time to time. Remo ve the w ater tank. If you use a CLARIS plus filter cartridge, remo ve this. Descale the tank with a mild conventional descaling agent.
49 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water f or perfec t coffee Any one who has ever drunk fresh spring w ater knows: There is a world of difference between the elixir of life in its natural f orm and the processed fluid that comes out of our taps. V e ry few of us have ready access to a spring.
50 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water f or perfec t coffee Y ou can see it at work on your household applianc es every day . Lef t to its own devices, scale can cause serious damage . Over time, scale is deposited on the heating elements, clogging the heating ele- ments and pipes.
51 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water f or perfec t coffee The wat er flows through the filter at a c onstant speed, disturbing the granulat e and ensuring that it is used evenly . This system ensures that the filter is used to optimum effect. The remaining wat er in the tank is lef t untouched until the next cup of coffee is made .
52 9 CLARIS plus filter cartridge – Water f or perfec t coffee CLARIS plus filter cartridges should be kept out of the reach of children. Store them dry in the sealed package. Protect them from heat and direct sunlight. Do NOT use damaged CLARIS plus filt er cartridges.
