5 Up/Down Needle P osition Button 3 RED LED GREEN LED Press this button to bring the needle bar up or down. The RED LED will light up when the needle is down. The GREEN LED will light up when the needle is up . The machine will stop with the needle up or down depending on the needle position determined by this button.

9 z Place a bobbin in the bobbin case making sure the thread winds cloc kwise on the bob bin as illustr ated. x Dra w the thread through the slit q of the bobbin case. q slit c Continue to dra w the thread under the tension spring w and through the opening e .
10 * Use only left twist thread z Raise the presser f oot lifter . Press the Up/Down needle button twice to r aise the needle to its highest position. T urn the power s witch off. Set a spool of thread on the spool pin. P ass the thread through the guide on the thread guide bar q from the behind.
11 z Low er the presser foot. Press the Up/Do wn needle button twice to r aise the needle to its highest position. T urn the power s witch off. Push down the needle threader knob q as f ar as it will go .
12 z Hold the needle thread q lightly with your left hand. x Tu rn the s witch on. Press the Up/Do wn needle position button twice to pic k up the bobbin thread w . Pull the needle thread q to bring up a loop of bobbin thread w . c Slide 10 cm (4˝) of both threads to the rear under the presser f oot.
13 w e e z Tu rn the po wer s witch off. Lo wer the presser f oot. T ur n the needle clamp screw q counterclockwise with the large scre wdr iver . Loosen the screw and remo ve the needle from the needle clamp .
14 z Tu rn the po w er s witch off . Lower the presser f oot. Tu rn the needle clamp scre w q counterclockwise with the large scre wdr iver . Loosen the screw and remo ve the needle from the needle clamp . q Needle clamp screw To deter mine if the needle is defectiv e, place the needle on something flat (a needle plate, piece of glass , etc.
15 The needle thread and bobbin thread should interlock in the center of two la yers of the f abric in straight seams. T est the bobbin thread tension by holding the end of the bobbin thread and suspending the bobbin case as illustrated. Then jer k the bobbin case once by flic king y our wrist.
16 Bef ore you star t sewing y our gar ment, tr y test stitching with the same thread and f abr ic as your gar ment. z Tu rn the stitch length adjustment dial q to adjust the stitch length. Slide the needle and bobbin threads to the back under the presser f oot.
17 1cm (3/8˝) 1cm (3/8˝) The machine will sew in re verse as long as the re verse stitch le ver is pressed. Secure the beginning and end of a seam by sewing in re v erse for about 1 cm (3/8˝). Pull the bobbin thread to bring the needle thread to the wrong side of f abr ic.
18 Attach the cloth guide to the needle plate with the screw q . Adjust the position of the cloth guide w and tighten the screw q . Attach the hemmer f oot w to the presser foot bar .
